This was a really fun hunt for me and I am very glad I got a chance to do it. I would have never thought about hunting this way, but historically dogs were a big part of how humans hunted and why we became so successful. Bears being chased by wolves is a very natural thing, so it's no different. Humans are natural predators, let's not hide it, let's celebrate how ethically we can do it.

Used to run our dogs in Northern California. That was a few years back. Thanks for sparking up that memories of listening to how the dogs and they're balling. We ran Red Ticks, Blue Ticks , Treeing Walkers and German Plots. It was a good time in my Life!

We used to go to Calabogie in Northern, Ontario to hunt deer at Salmons fishing, bear, deer camp. They used tick hounds to stir up the deer and keep them moving while we sat in tree and ground stands waiting for an opportunity. I went 2 x‘s harvesting a doe the first year and a buck the second. Great memories.

There are lots a black bear in Ontario hunting helps control population. None of this bear will go to waste. It's not hunted for trophy it's for natural food. Good job guys.

@@tobygolding1893 its got nothing to do with being able to afford food or not ,if you buy meat from a shop you dont exactly know what you are getting or what has been done to it. Also people have been hunting animals from day 1 of existence , there is nothing wrong with hunting your own meat if you stay inside of the law . Hunting animals is natural for humans people have lost touch with this over time because its easier to go to a shop and buy it.

There are literally bears at my green bin every night in the spring, summer and fall... I live in Ontario, they eliminated the spring bear hunt for about 5-6 years ish.... The population exploded... I do and have bear, never used dogs, just bait... Beautiful dogs 👍🏻👍🏻 keep up the great videos

I THINK I GET IT: you and Wooded want to see if savvy guys COULD possibly maintain weight in the wild, even with an abundance of meat and found supplementary fruit and vegetables and wild herbs. That will help us understand if ALONE is just a starvation challenge plus the psychological challenge of being out there on one's own.

as a fellow bear hunter...doughnuts and bread/ english muffins and honey buns work really good here in Minnesota. pretty much anything sweet seems to get a few around, but like you said with acorns its no guarantee that they choose your bait

i shot squirrel with my blow dart gun the other day, the first time i hit em in the side, didn't even faze him, second time i stuck him in the face and he freaked out a little bit and just pulled it out

@@bajamus69 do you have asthma or are using wood darts? you need razor heads, wood darts are fine for small lizards up close but without poison they are no good for clean kills. not enough mass and no bleeding action. maybe try boiling down some tobacco and coating your darts with the nicotine paste.
