Ovens Rocky Mountain Bushcraft

Ovens Rocky Mountain Bushcraft

Жыл бұрын

Greg and Finn continue their adventures, hopping from lake to lake, fishing for burbot, trout, and bass! They setup a fireside hammock camp near waterfalls and creeks, enjoying the summer weather, as they relax, swim, and cook on the wood fire and hot rocks.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

When I was a young girl of 12 my job was to do dishes cook and clean because my mom had to work this truly started when I was 9. Oh how I hated dishes. My brother got to do the yard work because he was a boy. My passion even then was to eat wild plants and meat I felt it was something I needed to know even then now I'm 60 and watch you. I told my mom one day that when I grew up I wasn't doing dishes so she asked me what I was going to eat off of lol I told her rocks. Well I'm still cooking and doing dishes. I want to live doing what you do and have the knowledge you have.

Skunked again. Getting outdoors is the goal but a nice pan fried fish is good too. Finn made a big splash with some barrel dives. All having a good time.

I live along the shores of Lake Huron and Lake michigan. When I go burbot fishing I often catch many Flathead or Shovelhead catfish in the 30 to 40 lb range and I call that a bonus. It's hard to beat catfish nuggets for breakfast. Keep On Rocking the sustainable lifestyle you live brother.

Keeping it real!! Thats what I love about your videos. They are always, Unscripted. Giving us "the real deal". Reality is, some days the fish just ain't biting. In your case, it was several days. But that doesnt mean we can't have an amazing adventure. You prove that in this video. Thanks for taking us on another awesome adventure. You know, my favorite part was watching you and Fin having fun swimming and fetching sticks in the water. That truly blessed my heart!!! Keep moving forward my friend, you are doing a excellent job !!!! Can't wait for the next adventure.

It's always great watching your adventures Greg. I was raises on native lands in Oklahoma. Our daily meals consisted of whatever seasonal foraging we did. So I'm fairly knowledgeable. But I was picking blackberries and managed to grab a couple virginia creepers along side my edibles. I was munching on the berries as I went, and ate one of the poisonous creepers. I spit it out after not recognizing the taste or texture. I knew it was poisonous but not to what extent. I had to call poison control. And I lived but it was scarry.
