Catch And Cook Rainbow Trout Day 3 Of 30 Day Survival Challenge Canadian Rockies

The Trout at the first spot are too small to sustain us for the long haul. So today we are going to head out to a new lake and see if we can fish for some bigger rainbow trout. The Rockies are full lots of little lake containing different types of trout. And it seams like wherever i go the Rainbow Trout are different and this place is no exception. Hopefully along the way to and from the lake we hope to have some good sized Rainbow Trout we manage to find some wild plants to round out a better diet and give us the much needed energy to head further up and further in to the rockies for the next 27 day.

I'm curious how did our ancestors store enough food for winter? Would they only eat some of their crops and save the rest and then eat the stores crops while growing new ones, rinse and repeat until winter? Can jerky Last the entire winter in a clay pot with a lid? How did they ensure they would have enough to eat as they can't calorie count?

@@jkm7983 yes jerky will store in a pot confit is also a way of preserving food under a layer of fat and no they couldn't calorie count but they could set out what they eat in a day and then say they needs 100more days worth they can stockpile and work it out like that and of course sometimes they starved

@@jkm7983 yes they saved grain form one harvest to the next and There wasnt hunting seasons back in the day. ANd there was alot more game. There are alot more ways to store meet then jurky that are better for you like they could render bear fat and cover the meat with the fat to protect it. Kind of like canning. And winters being colder they would have fresh game hanging in the wood shed all winter and just hack off chunks. or winter trap lines where they could get rally good meat form beavers.
