I guess it's a bit of a cheat Catch and Cook video as the catch part is the previous video but I figure If your keen to see the full catch you can click back. Plus I was hoping to get a few different meals out of the same catch... so, Lets call it part 2 :)
It's always a great feeling getting home after a trip out knowing you have food for the family. I kept both tuna knowing that I had a mate Loz (The one that gave me the filleting table) That hadn't received a good fish for a while. One Tuna was donated to his family, he is a chef so is very satisfying to see someone use the fish to its full extent. The meals that come out are always great and being able to just dump a whole fish on him and not have to clean it and make it look all pretty before sharing it is perfect when rushing to work.
My family have been feasting on the tuna and snapper this week, I only had time to make one video so far from all the meals. I wanted this vid to be loose and show people cooking and enjoying the fish and show that the catching is only a small part of why I enjoy fishing so much.

Looking good. If you want to get the family involved with your channel, this is the way. Not everybody is into fishing but most everybody loves to eat (and cook). Problem is though then you get a bunch of family members critiquing your videos. LOL.

Hi from Japan. Fabulous idea with the sesame! The "basis" for this dish here is our typical "Katsuo Tataki," done with seared bonito with a ginger, shiso, and grated daikon topping afterwards. Usually eaten ice cold on a hot summer day. いただきます... Let's eat!

Hey I was wondering if you could show us how you pack your rigs/leaders when you go out on kayak. I used to use pool noodle to wrap rigs around but its a bit bulky to fit in a sealed container and Im wondering how else I could keep those home made sabiki rigs from tangling up and such. Any advice is greatly appreciated! And thank you for all your videos! They offer some great advice and techniques! Keep it up man!

As always, nice video! I also fillet my fish at home but usually put down plastic wrap on the counter first; I like your idea of using paper instead since it has the bonus of absorbing liquids. Did you use regular paper or wax paper?
@rokkitkit

It was just cheep brown wrapping paper. Worked well and then just scrunched it up and threw it in the bin.

Hi great vids mate, just wondering what knife you would recommend , on a budget of course!!?
@rokkitkit
@rokkitkit 7 жыл бұрын
The one in this video is an old filleting knife that my in-laws have, nothing too special, just nice and sharp. I have one of the Black Magic Filleting knives at home and it sharpens up nicely. Only around $30-$40 dollars so not expensive.

Aloha from Hawaii! Whats the ideal trolling speed for a kayak? I've been searching all over youtube and nothing. would 2-3 knots be too slow? I've been having problems with my line getting stuck in my rudder.
@rokkitkit
@rokkitkit 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Mate, I usually average around 8-9km so around 4.5 knots... I have my dead bait rigs tuned to work at that speed but you don't have to go that speed to catch. It really depends on what your target species is and what your trolling with I guess. There are hard body lures like Halcos that will still catch at slower speeds. 2-3 knots should be fine just play around with bait size and weights until you get it right. Cheers Rod

@rokkitkit
@rokkitkit 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Don, there is a few guys that do surf launches in Hobies... The PA is a tricky one being so wide and heavy... but I have seen it done. You just really need to pick your days... and except that on the way in there is a good chance your going to get wet, so be prepared and have your gear secure.

I am currently fishing out of a Malibu mini X kayak which you can pick up from BCF for about $800. It is super stable (i can throw a 10ft cast out of it) which makes it ideal for Jack fishing as well as the fact that it has storage in it for a Bait tank tackle storage etc.
