Also in sub freezing weather drain the can more often, as water condensate can freeze and plug up the works. And of course drain when engine compartment is warmed up.

Good point made. Have seen this mistake myself, some cans like the Ryco are opposite to the pro-vent; ie they have the inlet at the lower and the outlet back into the engine crankcase at the top of the can. Can be confusing.

Having installed this exact unit to my rig, and I'm a complete novice, it seemed pretty straight forward. It's frightening so many are wrong. How? For the record been running it for over 3 years now and it's one of the best mods I've invested in. It's collected over 900ml of oil that time.

I bought my 2016 79 series Land Cruiser new and fitted a provent 200 catch can. drain about 50-100ml of oil from it every 5000ks. have done about 80,000 kilometers since fitting it with no issue. good investment to stop the oily mist making its way into the inlet.

Great video, thanks for the useful info. I have a filter just like the one you use in the clip. That valve down the bottom, does that need any servicing? I've had my catch can for about 4 years & never looked at it. Also, do you know if the top lids/covers are available? Mine doesn't seal well. Thanks very much.

Hi. I have a VW Touareg with Mann 150 installed by my mechanic. It appears to be leaking a bit of oil from about 1/2 way down. Could it just be overfull, or connected back to front? Is there an easy way for me to tell as I can't see where the hoses go. Obviously I'm not a mechanic. Thanks in advance.

I’ve got a Isuzu Dmax which has done 102,000k over 7 years and I’m planning on fitting a Provent PV644DPK catch can. I’m thinking of doing it myself even though I get it serviced at Isuzu. Is there something that I can do before fitting the new Provent setup?. I have this feeling like I should get something cleaned out before fitting this system to a 102k dual cab. Should the inlet be scrubbed out or is there a quick process of getting the oil that’s already accumulated removed if there is some in the system. No one ever talks about the process of fitting this type of system to a older vehicle, only to fit it to a new one. If there is a process before fitting one, how much would it cost to get the system nice and clean before the newly installed catch can system. Thanks

Hey mate, thanks for the video, hard to imagine getting it wrong with all the instructions, anyway, I’m about to get a used diese Triton (~50,000kms) First thing I’m going to do is install a diesel catch can; it doesn’t have one at the moment and might be a bit of a hassle finding out if the previous owner had one and has just taken it off before selling, What’s the most important thing to check for during my first service in terms of the Ute potentially not having a catch can for ~55,000kms of use? This paper filter get clogged up after around 2000km especially during winter time and if you don't use the car for a few days and block the passage of air. This is the problem I faced on the past.

Dare I ask and I may know your answer but the non branded catch cans that look identical in every way shape and form to the Provent. Whats the issue with using these at less than half the cost? Just a simple filter if hooked up the right way and drained regularly. Is there any pitfalls with the cheaper version ??
