Ovens Rocky Mountain Bushcraft

3 жыл бұрын

Ovens heads to the bush to hike the trails as he tracks deer, elk, and moose for a campfire catch and cook with his special homemade Dynamite Marinade. He spots lots of wildlife, forages plants, and even buys a new 4x4 to get him deeper into the wilderness!
Deer Processing Video: • White Tail Deer Proces...
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

Smart too, never even tried touching on the "Worcestershire sauce" pronunciation LOL Long shot but if that editor happens to read this, for future ref it's pronounced wuss-ter-sha but the -sha is usually missed off. For the past 50 years, and back to my great grandmother for at least 70 years before that, just called it "Worcester (wuss-ter) sauce". It's less tongue-trippy, once you know how to correctly pronounce "Worcester" of course ;)

Great job Greg. We also process our own deer. When it comes to the back strap we cut them into "butterfly" steaks. Gregs B-Roll is really getting good, some good footage with the shallow focus etc. Thumbs up! Also enjoyed the crop edit of Greg's daughter smirking! Can I suggest a video idea? Take all of his videos with Weed, seeds and anything as such and make a Gregs Guide to Seed's, Weeds and Other Needs. Edit all his tricks, finds and things he uses for cooking in the wild. Missed opportunity to use the sweet garlic seeds in his meal at the end, would have fit well! Keep it up Greg and Zack and Co. Is Gregs daughter keen to speak about her dad in a video? Showing her recall his adventures or stories of her dad would be a nice touch. If not a dedicated video, as an edit in with them riding along in a truck or having her join him for an overnight camp.

@@18Bees I agree! I was in a tough situation mountain biking when I got separated from my friend. It took about 30 mins to relocate him.

I was actually looking at the very first scene with the mountain runoff. I'm sure there's gold in that pile. I tried panning a tiny runoff in a creek last summer and found a bunch (20 specs) of fine gold. I just hope the mound will be there next summer... The recent heavy rain and flooding might have cleaned out the creek...

Made me stop and say my ThankyouGreg! ...You have impeccable timing I must say ! haha. 👋 it was so precise of the timing, I questioned if I was making The noises! Wow usually I’m very against hunting but the way this man does it just make me feel okay about the whole thing ? It’s feels natural. He actually utilizes the meat and cares about a clean shot. I have nothing but respect! Great video :)

THAT is what hunters are ‘supposed’ to be taught. Respect for the animal, NEVER take a bad shot, and use and harvest ALL the animal. Every Canadian hunter I know abides by these rules. Can’t speak on the rest, but, it appears many are not in it for the food, but merely conquest, which (I believe) to be morally bankrupt. Greg Ovens stands for what is good about harvesting all plant and animal, and for that he deserves the respect you’ve stated.
