Have you ever seen those ridged “clam shells”? Scallops are the muscle that closes their shell. Be sure to buy “dry packed” ones at the store, or they’ll be soaked in enough preservative brine to float a boat! They’re one of my favourite seafoods, too. Scallop shells can not only live on the ocean floor, as Cheryl points out, but they can “flap” their shells open and closed to swim from danger! Thanks for teaching me about the burbot/freshwater ling. Now that I know there’s more out there than rainbow trout and steelhead,I really want to start fishing in BC!
