That fresh, raw for sure. I usually get full just eating raw as I am breaking the fish down haha. Seared for fish after day1. Use your scrap and scrape between the bones for your poke meat. *edit* and for species, definitely rooster fish as they don't come far enough north for me to catch 'em!

Why do you use a cage gaff instead of a traditional hooked gaff??

I don't like that gaff i think u should just get a bow fishing arrow or spearfishing arrow since there similar to what u have there an just one with removable barb on tip an fish won't go nowhere an are pretty strong an light an like I said u won't lose fish unlike with that straight harpoon type gaff

The curved gaff is better in the boat. I like the spear gaff in the kayak. You wouldn’t be able to stab one of these fish with an arrow with your bare hands

@@YakFishField ahhh didnt think u would believe me but there are very sharp points an would literally glide right thru fish ive bow fished before an literally caught one where carp was right in front of me a instead of using bow we just jam the arrow in like with frog spear sorta an it works bro an especially if ur using the arrows that are used for gators those things are sharp as hell an would def hold an go thru fish like butter

I was in Hawaii two years ago out on a charter and all I wanted to do was catch and photo a mahi. I hooked and fought two to the boat and the deck hand did exactly what you did on both fish. No photo but still an amazing time.
