First let me say you earned my respect. I have Autistic little boy's placed in my care from D.H.R. one is non- verbal, both are like toddler's. It is a confirmed fact autistic children have no sense of fear or danger. Explaining in a way they understand is complicated. You must use simple words , use as few words as possible. I showed them your video. The little boy that's verbal got your message to your child , never approach a snake without mom or dad. Thank you!!!!!! You are a Blessing!

I live in southern AZ in a fairly remote area...we see bugs and snakes almost daily that could put a little one in the hospital. Our equivalent to your black snake is our king snake. It's super important to let them hang around. Yes, they are creepy and big, but they are a much better alternative to the rattle snakes. If you are really worried about your kids being hurt, I would consider a few chickens and a goat. The goat will work as a weed eater and chickens do an excellent job of killing the bottom of the food chain, which leads to less snakes and spiders. Keeping the cat around is also a great idea.
@FHSBlackSwarm2 жыл бұрын
I don't think a cat is going to kill a snake. Maybe some rodents or birds but a snake? Also dogs and cats are family pets. Would hate to sick my cat on a snake just to watch it (my cat) die. I live in the desert but in such a city area that spiders and scorpions are the only real worry. We do have mountain lions I think but I haven't heard of any making their way into the city 🙏 I live on the most western part of Texas so I'm not to far from you

Hey, love your videos. To preserve snake skins make sure all meat I scraped off the inside of the skin, spread it out and pin it to a board. Then cover with generous amount of Borax detergent. Let it sit for a few weeks and the Borax will dry out and preserve the skin. I've done this with timber Rattlers, put a cork in the mouth to shape it and mounted it on a slab of rough cut timber for a great display. This process also works great turkey tails and any kind of game bird tails.

Great video all around. I skinned a rattlesnake once before, a western rattlesnake (I live in California). I removed the head and it kept moving for hours. Very creepy. As far as keeping the skin, pour a bunch of salt on a flat board, put the skin inner wet side down, pin it so it spread out, and cover it with more salt. Come back a week later and you got a nice hatband.
@Mothobius2 жыл бұрын
Removing the head actually causes a lot of pain for the snake as it still lives for a while. If you have to kill one at least do it humanely by a quick kill. No head chopping.
@electricfil2 жыл бұрын
@@Mothobius what is a quick kill?
@Mothobius2 жыл бұрын
@@electricfil ideally you don't need or want to kill them. But if you have to which you would rarely ever need to, a quick smash to the head at least if your someone that does kill them. Snakes still fail pain after having the head cut off. But again it's not extremely necessary to kill them. If you have children teach them to avoid snakes and respect them.

I grew up in the woods in the winters, and on the river in the summer in NE Arkansas. Was very aware of snakes and other dangers to be on the look out for. I was always out in the creek or on the river. We had a lot of water moccasins where we were, as well as copperheads, rattlers, etc...The men would sometimes go frog gigging and we ate frog legs, but never ate snake. Never will! lol. But thought this was a cool video. Might do more research on the animals of your area and become very conscientious of the dangers around you and your family and teach them. When I was an adult I carried a can of wasp spray or pepper spray with me to the river as it was not unusual to have a water moc. or other venomous snake on the stairs or dock...and that wasp spray will spray up to 30 feet! And boy does it work. Works on people too...just a safety tip in case you have a break in or trouble. Better than shooting someone. Enjoyed the video!

Cool, I encounter Malayan Pit Vipers and Monocled Cobras at our acreage here in SE Asia. The MPV is commonly referred to as the Land Mine, as they're too afraid to run when they encounter a human predator, so they freeze up in fear and most people end up inadvertently stepping on them and getting struck. That said, it does make it easy to catch them and relocate them away from people. The Cobras are a different story, they're very sketchy.
