I read the earliest depictions of wrestling (not necessarily submissions) were Neolithic so one would assume that people have been doing this since before homosapiens evolved.

Incredible coach very importantly points out that the sub won’t always work as we are all shaped differently. Too many egotistical coaches out there that say a sub will work no matter what. The other great thing is coach wants to have questions asked of him. Amazing work

Wow that is slick, been a boxer and nak muay for 15 years and in Muay Thai we have BJJ classes that follow after our adult classes, anyone who's ever been to legitimate gym can attest to the overlap and how the programs are structured but out of those 15 years i've never seen anything like this during their trainings ... I'm seriously interested in learning Catch wrestling, if you ask me this is the dominate force of grappling, thank you for sharing this wisdom with all of us and i seriously hope there's more attention brought to this dark art.

I love catch wrestling! I trained with Erik Paulson for about two years in the early 90s. After the late 90s I only rolled with people every few years or so. From England, not so far from the UK Snake Pit. Just came across the video. Great stuff, I teach Japanese Jujutsu so no floor butt scooting with worms 😂. On a side note, one of our students is the great grandson of Willian 'Pop' Charnock AKA Pop Saxon, who taught Billy Riley and I'm led to believe also Billy Robinson way back when. All the best from the UK.

Thank you. Do you have any more bio info on William Charnock? He did train Billy Riley, but there was a fallout between them. Never heard anyone mention him as Pop Saxon. I know he was of Irish decent. Karl Gotch worked with him but not Billy Robinson. Any further info that you have on his story regarding who trained him, his birth date etc. would be amazing to learn.
