the creator of Brazilian Luta-Livre was Catch Wrestler they are very similar modalities I think there could be a greater integration between the two modalities I see a lot of Catch Wrestling people making a lot of reference to jiu-jitsu, but the fight that most resembles and could have a lot exchange of information with Catch Wrestling is Brazilian Luta-Livre.

How does Catch compare to BJJ for self defense? - I understand Catch is more geared towards working top position and takedowns. Does this help you also take the initiative sooner from getting surprised? - How does the bottom work compare to BJJ? Since you have to struggle to not get pinned as well, would this make you more explosive? Thanks.

The way it was explained to me is that jiu jitsu will go for position before submission, while catch will go for submission from any position. ( disclaimer I'm not anywhere close to being an expert)

@@SnakePitUSA I can really only think of rnc and kata hajime for chokes from seatbelt even then no one really uses kata hajime in nogi well that I've noticed anyway. If you can find the time to make a video about it I'd give it a good watch. Thanks for your reply I've learnt a lot from you you've really opened my eyes up to catch wrestling coming from judo background
