The sign of a great leader. Fit the points where improvements are needed, but end on a positive note. And reminding everyone how much their tip was, is definitely a positive. The willingness of the Capt. to fold the guests clothes, definitely builds respect with the crew. Rather than just scold them for slacking in their duties. What a wonderful operation and another great video.

Happy birthday tristan. 18 now EH ? Steve another awesome video. Still an older one as Sean is still around. Great tip $6500.00 each. So the $30,000.00 plus tips you have each made is for the caribbean portion of the charters right ? So add Mediterranean/Adriatic to the total it's an lucrative season. You do work your behinds off so all earned in doing a great job. That fire seemed fine to me . If there was any safety concerns over this it falls on your lap Captain Paul. You should have instructed before hand or your second in command should have been aware. Franko was probably doing it intentionally knowing he'd be removed from fire making duties. lol. Yes the radio transmissions I know where Capt Paul's coming from. When I'm on holiday I don't want to hear someones radio go off with information or instructions. An ear piece should be warn at all times, preferably a blue tooth ear piece with mic. Okay said my bit love it or hate it I don't care. MV Loon and it's crew bring out an excellent product and to maintain this awesome product it takes an exceptional Captain and crew which you all are. Cheers ladies and Gents oh yes and Moo all the best in your future endeavors.

Yachties actually have an official pay-scale, per position, per size of the boat. Captains, 1st officers, Engineers, Chefs, Chief stews, make very good money. And on the larger boats, have a 50-50 work cycle for those positions. Ain't easy to get there, tho...
@jonathanscott5508 ай бұрын
@thomasbeirne8213 yes thanks I realize they also have a salary, but either the tips, even on a 50/50 work cycle, free room, and board, it is a hood life to have while young adult, but it's brutal hours of work. Also, it depends greatly on Captain, 1st officers, and heads of each department. Luckily what it seems MY LOON is a great boat to have a job with. Yet lots of working hours whole working.
@NM-yu3fc8 ай бұрын
I've only done it once, but I think it's funny how they do customs for people on boats. It's so different than an airport. You just show up with whatever number of passports and they stamp them and give them back to you without ever meeting you personally.

I am wondering if you can address the crew turnover- specifically, how often/why do crew leave and how do you train new hires? I am looking to get into yachting after university and have read that crew turnover is very normal- many crew do it for a few years to see the world, then move on, that yachting attracts adventurous spirits who like to try something for a few years and then head off to a new adventure, that it can be long days/long times away from family etc. How do you handle getting new people up to speed? Do you stay in touch with those that have left? Sometimes do the personalities/skills just not work out and you have to let them go? Thank you for the information!

Love the video and content, and congratulations Steve on your new role! As some constructive feedback back, to make the videos look more professional / cohesive, here are some tips I noticed that would improve the video. 1. keep name-tag format cohesive for every team member (I.e, the formatting of captains Paul’s instagram handle differs from Tristian’s. Keeping it cohesive would give a more professional feel to these videos). 2. maybe cut out the parts of the video where you are trying to get your camera to focus. It looks a bit sloppy. Maybe get there before the crew to properly acclimate your equipment? 3. The video looks way too sharp during the intro. It’s more harsh on eyes than anything. Hopefully you find this feedback helpful! Cheers from the USA!
