Thanks T LeB!!! About a minute before the video starts that big one stretched out (or I thought he did) and looked really long like a catfish so I ignored him at first. Glad that bottom fish didn't wind up hooking up to scare him away!!

@@Arrigo_Outdoor_Adventures Man, I had to release two big fish on the day I made this video because I already had my limit of seven-over-12-inches. First time in my life I was cheering when I caught a small-medium sized fish because I knew I'd get to keep those LOL!!!

Thanks Pilot! I was so excited when I saw that thing surface! It's wild that the tournament fishermen here wind up catching lots of fish way way bigger than this every time they come out. I'm gonna have to spend a day chasing monsters eventually to see if I can find one of those three pounders out there.

Congrats on the PB; I'm curious if you have a newer PB since this one is a year old :) My PB is 14.5" at 1.8 lbs -- I'm still chasing that elusive 2 lb fish on my lake in Texas! Nice catch!!
@HighQualityFishingVideos
@HighQualityFishingVideos 7 ай бұрын
Oh man, your 14.5 would beat anything I've caught on any lake aside from Darbonne, very nice fish! I still have not topped that 2.35lb fish. I've caught maybe 3 or 4 that were right at 15 inches and one about a month ago that was 15.5 inches that was slightly over 2lbs, but nothing to top that big one yet! If I could just make myself go stay in the timber and off the beaten trail I'd probably find a 3lb fish out on Darbonne but I just can't pull away from the loads of fish hanging out in the deep water this time of year!

Very Nice crappie my friend. My PB is 13 1/4” in my neck of the woods (Eastern Ky), and that’s a hog for me. Not many get very big at all local. I am hoping to get more time soon to be able to get better with my 93 sv UHD and LVS 34. People say what they want, the live scope is awesome to find fish, but it is still up to your ability to figure out and catch the fish. I am finding out that boat control and presentation is at least 60% of being able to catch more and bigger crappie. They are the hardest fish for me to figure out. No comparison to bass or any other predictable fish. Crappie are a tough species to figure out.
@HighQualityFishingVideos
@HighQualityFishingVideos Жыл бұрын
James you are exactly right about the boat control! If your boat is moving around a lot it makes staying locked onto the fish much much tougher. I was using my anchor occasionally before I got my the trolling motor with spot lock. I think now, if I didn't have spot lock, I'd be lowering/raising that anchor ten times a day to keep the boat in place. But I'd do it with a smile if it kept me on the fish! Also, 13.25 inches is still a big fish no matter where you are!! Good job on that one!

@@HighQualityFishingVideos thank you Sir. I have spent some money on a couple motorized anchor systems. One up front and one in the rear. I have a 2001 Crappie Pro 175 tracker with a 40 Mercury. These anchors will help a lot. J have had shoulder surgery and need it on the other as well. I can’t throw and retrieve two anchors by hand no more. A spot lock would be nice fir sure, but can do the $1200-$2000 to own one. That would be nice and no doubt a very handy feature to have with live scope or just crappie fishing in general.

@@fuzzyfultz That is a nice boat! I've got a 1984 Bass Tracker with the original motor (Mercury 25xd). It requires a lot of TLC to keep it going, but it catches a bunch of fish! Definitely understand the pain of dealing with the anchors, for me it's my wrist and back. I bet those motorized anchors work great! I was actually looking into some of those before I bit the bullet with spot lock.

@@HighQualityFishingVideos I bought the Trac brand from Overtons. The had the best deal out there at the time, about three weeks ago. $139 each with free shipping. The Trac Gen 3 Fisherman 25. So far so good. But I have only used once so can’t give a good review yet. I can say I liked the way they mounted and they seem to be well built, except fur the safety latch. One of the safety latches broke when I tested it with a 15 lb anchor. I did fix it with paracord. I can this as well, do make sure to wire directly to the battery. I tried splices into other wiring up front, that’s a no no. Wasn’t getting enough voltage and lost power. I first tried the one direct on an extra battery, then spliced so I could see the difference. So def wire straight to battery as instructions say. You get plenty of heavy wire to wire direct. I do all my own wiring so forth on my boats. I also have a 1985 18 1/2 foot deep V Sylvan Pro Fisherman that I take to Lake Erie once a year in May. We, a freind and my brother. We troll mainly for walleye. Last year we limited out everyday except one or two with some nice walleye. We where off the lake usually by 10 -11 am every morning. I dearly want to go up that way and do some crappie fishing in the bats and up the rivers. Nobody crappie fished up that way and they are def there. I would love to do a little traveling once I am retired this year in July. My Last day is July 31. Almost 21 yrs with the state Hwy Dept. Can’t wait. I hood you live your tracker as much as I do. I will say that your underpowered though. I would go with at least a 40 Hp. Mine is doing great and tops out at 30 mph with all my gear by myself. Easy on fuel and gets the job done. I have to run a ways sometimes to get up the river or across the lake. www.overtons.com/trac-gen-3-fisherman-25-anchor-winch-315709.html?token=b8691755-32a9-471a-b356-15b1a3291089&

I know a lot of youtube guys are catch/release but we always keep and eat crappie. My kids in particular love the bigger fish (big crappie, bass, and blue catfish). I did have to release two big crappie the day I made this video because I already had my limit of seven fish that were 12 inches or larger. Those were the first two big crappie I think I've ever released my whole life because the limits here are so large. Was a strange feeling watching all that food swim away!

My favorite eating-size crappie are right at 9 inches. Big enough to fillet easily, but small enough that they're super crispy when you fry them up! My kids though, they love the really big crappie and blue catfish. "More meat per-bite" according to my oldest, hahaha

@@Rocksolidamerican No problem! I caught this big one on a 1/32 oz hair jig that has a pink head/silver-middle/chartreuse tail. I almost always use a split color jig like that where the tail is a different color than the body.

How deep does the transducer have to be ?
@HighQualityFishingVideos
@HighQualityFishingVideos Жыл бұрын
I keep mine about 1-2 ft deep so that waves don't cause it to come out. But as long as the transducer is fully submerged you'll get back an image.
