Catching a Tuna with NO Hook | Kayak fishing a FAD (Bouy)

I shouldn't have caught that Bonito.

On this trip the baitfish was tough to come by but I ended up with enough for bait. Last Minute my Kayak buddies wanted to go check out a FAD (Bouy) that was 3 miles offshore. With the winds at about 7-10 mph we decided to just risk it for the biscuit. After about 15 minutes at the FAD we all ran out of bait because there were so many Barracudas lurking around. After about 45 minutes of searching for bait we decided to call it quits and head back inshore to find more bait and to target Bonito (Kawakawa) Lucky we did because I ended up tangling a 7# Kawakawa, that I gave to a buddy, and hooking a 8# Kawakawa to end the day before the swells and wind really started going crazy on us.

i almost caught a nenue with no hook sliding at heeia the nenue ran into my line and got hooked by the claw lead then came off. nice vid!!!

Dang David! That's EPIC!! I've done just that with a 5lb Tako. It was stuck to my claw lead when I jacked up my lines for the night. Wait until you start getting Obake strikes. Pretty wild stuff!
