Catching a Massive Rainbow Runner! | Hawaiian Salmon | Kayak Fishing Hawaii

Kayak fishing outside of town, Oahu. In the morning it was dead calm and I had a tough time catching live bait since the water wasn't moving and the predators kept stealing them off my line while turning on my GoPro. I managed to catch 1 Mackerel Scad (Opelu) on camera, and caught 3 Opelu's off camera, which turned out to be just enough for bait. I hooked onto 3 Rainbow Runners (Kamanu) and one of them became my new Personal Best. What an exciting day!!

are rainbow runners near the bottom. I've trolled for like two years now and have caught everything except a rainbow runner .

I’ve had my best success with Rainbow Runners mid water but I’ve caught many top water as well. Try trolling a little slower. I don’t catch any rainbows if I’m trolling on the quicker side (tuna or wahoo speed) Goodluck, your time will come. 🤙
