You join me today hunting down big fish from small rivers, the river Foss to be exact and a stretch controlled by the YDAA in York, a stunning little river that poses a fantastic challenge at any time of year. This was such a fun couple of hours and I'd highly recommend a session doing this, not for the faint hearted though lol, I will be venturing back up again and this time with even heavier gear.

Well done Scott, had a session myself on the 20th, not where you were on the other bridge in the middle, only managed dace but spotted chub the night before. What pound line were you using? I went with 5lb floatfish and 0.15 reflo bottom. The Dave Harrell shallow sticks are ideal in there, I used a 2 x No.4, it took 5 x no.8 and I put 3 directly under the float.

Cheers mate, I had 5lb mainline and .14 hook length on the float rod and 8lb going to a .22 on the feeder rod, this rain will help colour it up a bit and flush some weed out hopefully, looking forward to another session soon.

@@Scottsoutdoorchannel Definitely gonna give it another go myself at some point. It's crazy the strength of line required to get those chub out of the tight swims and snags.

@@Scottsoutdoorchannel The pub near the bridge on Sheriff Hutton Rd is The Ship Inn. There are usually some big fish just downstream of the railway bridge about 1000m upstream from where you were fishing at the start. Just downstream from the footbridge is excellent and you can fish from the bank next to the old site of the Tannery, as you did. (I live in Strensall!)
