I had never tried them either, thought they would well in the smaller streams. Looks like the flash/vibration of a blade attracts them . Nice trout Robbie, how perfect a specimen, I may have taken one home......maybe it attracts the larger fish being a larger nymph? What a great day. Lures were purchased on Temu or ebay. I had never seen them before either. They seem to work. You made my day, too funny. Keep the great work up. Thanks Robbie.

Try dropping one in front of a school of carp, mate. They love the things. I have not used one in a long time, but there was a time when I used to paddle them around. A small split shot about a foot above the nymph or a float can help to cast a bit farther if required. I think the lure looks like an insect emerger with wings out or something.

I would say the lack of weight is a feature because you can spin it really slowly without it sinking in shallow little streams and it is visible and moving slowly enough to be enticing to big fatty trout!
@stevenelliott1556 ай бұрын
G'day Robbie. You caught some great fish. Well done. I've seen this lure before. It's available from Ali express. Can't remember the name. Perhaps a small split shot up front might give slightly more casting distance. Might have to get some I think. Loved the bubbles by the way.

@Mark-ew5jm6 ай бұрын
Robbie, it never ceases to amaze me the skill you have in fishing these “skinny waters” but there is one question I have wanted to ask you….Why is it that there are some waters where you catch only brown trout yet in this water there are rainbows? Thanks for sharing Robbie.
@robbiefishing6 ай бұрын
Thanks Mark. It could be for a number of reasons. Perhaps brown trout have never been released here? For as long as I can remember there had never been brown trout in the creek. Maybe it gets too warm for brown trout? Rainbow trout prefer cooler water, yet ironically they have a higher tolerance for warmer water temps than browns. My guess would be that browns have never been released into this waterway. Other nearby streams have brown in them.
@herbertgearing17026 ай бұрын
Very popular in the Shenandoah Valley where I live, Joe flies or Jerry's flies but I make my own with a Murray's helgramite from Harry Murray's fly shop Edinburgh VA and a tiny gold or silver spinner blade it weighs nothing until it is wet and even then it's so light you can't get much distance even 2lb ultralight best for tiny Mountain streams and big native brook trout!
