I spent my childhood holidays shrimping on the beach! We had a net for years! But sadly we lost it. I want to make another one.

What a smashing video! I'm buying a small net to see if there are local shrimps. If successful I will make one just like it! Free bait for ever. What could go wrong?

Hi there, the product links are in the description box, thank you

its a great idea but you must have a net that smaller shrimp can go through first allowing them not to be squashed in the net also allows sand flow much easier

Hi Dave, how do you find good spots for shrimp, I've tried with my one a few times but don't get much.

It’s far to early for shrimping june to august is the best time it’s far to cold for them at the moment just look for a hole what holds water and you will get the shrimp 🍤

This just proves how much things have deteriorated over the years. Back in the 1950s/early 1960s I used to do a lot of shrimping on the south coast of England and would have got that many in one sweep of the net in two or three minutes. There were also quite a few commercial shrimpers using such nets. By the way your setup would work far better with a T handle that you could put against your chest to push with.

By gum, it must have been bad where you were. When I were a lad we used to make push nets from me mother's old stockings, two wire coat hangers, string and and auld forked stick. After one and a half minutes we had to stop because the net were that full of prime shrimp that we struggled to lift it out of the water. And we had to dodge the tractors that were charging up and down the tideline towing massive dredge nets. Them were the days, I don't know where the shrimps have gone to though.

Interesting that Dave! What time of year do you start collecting? I get my boat out at the end of March, so assuming bait is about by then?
