which lake produces the better striper fishing? cherokee or boone?

In my opinion, you can catch more striper out of Cherokee but biggerStriper out of Boone.

@@honaker1127 Yeah, Thats awesome! I would recommend working the River system this time of year. You can find some striper in the big turns along the Holston River. Good luck out there.

Another whopper! I tried this technique same day as you with no luck. Did I hear you say only 20 ft beyond the planar board so these are hooked pretty shallow? Also I have no planar boards for my two rod holders off the back of my Tracker 175. What do you recommend for planar boards. I used shiners as I am too lazy to cast a net.

Yeah, so I use 4 feet of 20 pound floro carbon leader then a swivel followed by a rubber stopper or bead with a barrel weight. I have been using half ounce weights right now to get them about 10 to 15 feet deep in the water. I let out up to 20 feet and then attach the planner board. I highly recommend water bugz. That’s where I bought mine. If I were you I would try to run one with no weight out the back of the boat and then run another one with a barrel weigh 10 to 15 feet deep. For now. Recently I’ve been running my speed at .8 mph

I’m in Kingston been trying around dams no go not using the boards is this the best way to fish them ?

Depends on what time of year you are Fishing for striped bass. I like to use planer boards in the winter time and spring. During the summer, you can down rig or jig in deep areas. In the fall from September to October, you can do tapwater in the late afternoons.

The closest bait shop is The Tackle Box. If your coming from Carter county you can stop by Brummits bait and tackle in Hampton.

Amazing! Simultaneous hits. Was Chris using 20lb line? He had a great catch. I'd guess that fish was over 20 lb, I need to try the retrieve as if I am getting the line in as fast as I can... So great you are sharing the action with Chris, and the videos for everyone.

Yeah that was really cool. A lot of times when you hook one striper or hybrid others are chasing that fish thinking that it is chasing bait even though it’s hooked. It’s not uncommon to get three or four wines to takeoff at once because the school is whipped up into a frenzy. They can’t distinguish between a fish being hooked and a fish hunting. I have no doubt the one I heard it was chasing the hooked one looking for a meal
