Is your hookup ratio better by hooking the livebait through the tail?
@ThisisAfricaOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
It’s pretty bad anyway we hook them😂 but I think just behind the head is probably better

Josh what are your average water temp for your part of the world during the winter?
@ThisisAfricaOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I’m not 100% sure I’d have to check, but my guess is around maybe 17 degrees C but I could be wrong

Josh since you are into ichthyology could you explain the difference between the catfish spices you catch also if you know is a vundu a subspecies or just a very large fish.
@castingwithconnor42962 жыл бұрын
I know you wanted a reply from josh but I thought I could help, so in Zimbabwe the two main large catfish species we have are the vundu and the sharp tooth catfish (commonly referred to as a barbel) the vundu is the larger of the two and they can be differentiated by the large adipose fin on the vundu paired with a short dorsal fin, they are also a lighter brown color and have a much flatter head. The sharp tooth catfish doesn’t get as large as far as I know. They are normally much darker and also often have a molted skin coloration with a large long dorsal fin which runs down the length of the body all the way down to the tail of the fish. Sharp tooth catfish (clarias gariepinus) Vundu (heterobranchus longfilis)
