I think you mentioned its okay to just cut the line as the hook can be "digested" by the tigers...I doubt that its digestive system would be able to handle a hook. It ain't really "fair" to the fish.

Icthyologists at Rhodes university did a study where they attended fishing competitions and any fish that was hooked deep they randomly split into two groups, one group they removed the hook even if it might hurt the fish the other group they cut the line, after which they placed the fish into two larger holding tanks to observe which group of fish had a higher survival rate. The fish with the cut lines had a significantly higher survival rate than the fish that had the hooks removed. Fish have a surprisingly ability to regurgitate hooks by themselves, when humans try remove them they cause excess damage.

Stop using those damned circle hooks. A Maruto Cycle hook or even just an Eagle Claw bait hook. A Gamakhatsu bait hook. Circles suck! Go barbless and you can using long forceps pull the hook from the toothiest of buggas. How about an 8KG wire leader?

There's no skill involved with using live bait. It just shows how unfeeling and basically cruel unskilled fishermen can get.
