Wild chicken is a bit tougher, it also depend on the age and the gender, breed of the chicken too. Hen are softer than rooster, young chicken is softer than an older chicken too. Farm raise or certain breed of chicken is fatter and more tender and since farm raise chicken is feed a certain food so they’re fat and they’re always in cage so they don’t exercise so they have less muscle and less noticeable tendons. But that rooster you caught is probably a jungle fowl.

Future reference you need to put the just cleaned chicken in an ice bath over night with a lil vinegar to let the meat relax. It has to go through Rigamortus & relax the muscles. Then prepare just as you did. You’ll find it much more tender

Is that what happens when we say we let it “breakdown” and get tender when leaving a leg or such out of a bigger animal? Good stuff lol

Greetings from the Cayman Islands 😊 We have had a lot of beach chicken here, we prefer to pressure cook them in curries so that any harmful bacteria are resting in peace. It’s actually easy to catch chicken in an open space with plenty of grains for them to peck at. Heck my friends catch them just with some rice in hands.. You will get there someday, happy chicken fishing 😆

Ace, just before the start of WWII, a few commercial chicken breeders decided to create some meaty birds by crossing two heavy breeds. This was the very beginning of what we now know as the "commercial broiler," which is THE chicken found in stores and all restaurants. The original cross that proved the best, was a WHITE Cornish Game and a WHITE Plymouth Rock. To this day, hatcheries still refer to them a "Cornish crosses" or "Cornish-Rock crosses," though both of the parent bloodlines have long been bred out of them. Just in the last 50 years, the fryer has been selected to go from a mere 3# to a whopping 6-7# net carcass! Carcass size is the indicator of the bird's age, too. 3 weeks="Cornish hen." 4 weeks, the larger [1.5#] "Cornish hen." 5 weeks, the foodservice-sized fryers [e.g. KFC-sized pieces]. Huge, 8-week-old cockerels produce the largest breast halves--white meat needed for foodservice...i.e. chicken nuggets, patties, etc., while their by-product is those HUGE bulk-bagged leg quarters sold in stores, so cheap! Often a 10# bag is under $5! Wings are now the premium-priced cuts, commanding as high a price as the so-called "tenders," which are the pectoral muscles from the breast. 50 years ago, wings were considered the "throw-away" cuts/pieces.

if you make a C with twigs or rocks and put a noose about 5 inches high the chicken will walk into the noose. The problem with you trap is the chickens step up when they walk. The second trap if you put some index cards around the back you can put the bait all the way to the back and the chickens cant eat it from the back. You also have the trap in the middle of the beach putting it closer to the bush will catch a chicken faster.
