I've fished dozens of them and never had one corkscrew. It's very likely you just need to remove the split ring and make sure no part of the hook eye is causing the top fin to fold over.

My, how the fish finder electronics have changed. Having a flasher unit used to be high tech. It was for a bit. They still work by the way. Interpreting what you're seeing on the unit takes skill no matter what electronics you're using.

I do own a MFer jacket, and a couple rods. At one time I was really impressed with you even though you are probably one of the most fowl mouthed fishermen on the net. I would only watch you when my grand children were not around. Now what I would like to see is you turn off all of your spot lighting equipment on your boat and then catch some fish. Bass Cats are built very well, but terrible designs. Rick Pierce never had a engineering background in boat design and it shows. Sold my Caracal and got an Ikon LX 20. That Ikon runs 75+ no chine!
