A good setup for bank lines is instead of a solid stake use a piece of PVC pipe ( 4-6 ft. long ) with a hole screwed all the way through about 1 1/2 - 2 inches from the top with an eye bolt through it to tie your line to. It's stout enough to hold large catfish or turtles but flimsy enough to not cause to much tension to make the fish to drop the bait. I used the setup when I lived in Mississippi.

Jacks catching all the big cats he can go home and ask mom to make him the catfish stew just make you fry up the chunks of meat before putting it in the pot with the rest of the goodies potatoes onions tomato sauce and and other vegetables or seasonings you want❤
