Does that 10 ft Rod seem to hold the weight of your method lead and your bait without being too flimsy, or do you think it could be a little stiffer? Love all the carp and equipment videos Thank you.
@UnorthodoxOutdoorsTV Жыл бұрын
It seemed to do pretty well. Any stiffer and I'd be worried about hook pulls!

So what are your favorite go-to-carp rods?
@UnorthodoxOutdoorsTV Жыл бұрын
@@allenkeough2629 so far, my favorite has been the Whisker Seeker Tackle Catfish and Carp Rod. It's a smaller rod, medium light, so it does have some casting limitations. Next season I will be trying out some different, heavier duty, medium action Whisker Seeker Tackle rods. We'll see how they compare to the catfish and carp rod

I own the original verision of that rod before they started using metal guides. It is my favorite rod for carp fishing and I own two 10 ft european carp rods in 3.25 TC. I feel like the ugly stick can handle the weight of the pack bait plus the method lead/spring feeder much better. I can whip it out far. And I have been using the rod for over five years with braid and it has not ruined the guides at all. I guess the guides were better before. They were made by fuji.

It sounds like the guides aren't what they once were! Thanks for watching!

@@UnorthodoxOutdoorsTV It might be worth rewraping it with better guides once thouse wear out. I still think it is a really good rod for carp fishing.

Got a 10’ for $80 with my Shimano Ultegra XS 5500 which I got on FB marketplace for $120 and it came braided with 40lb braid. So for literally $200 I have an above mid tier reel and a pretty solid rod which I’ll probably upgrade to a st croix triumph in the future. This does feel beefy n 7 year warranty? Can’t really beat that if something does happen to the rod. The only thing I don’t like is how beefy they are. Perfect rod to cast out n stick in a sand spike and wait. Not a great rod if you like to cast and hold. Shit was heavy in store without the reel just walking around I had to disconnect the two piece cause it was bothersome heavy for a rod lol. Prob means it can handle sharks, drum, and giant amber Jack no problem.

Thank you for the kind words! It really depends on what you are looking to do with the reel, size of fish, budget, etc. The Okuma Avenger and Kast King Sharky 3s are pretty solid, budget friendly reels, so far in our experience, at least.
