Question- why don’t you stop trolling once you’re hooked up? You can keep tension on the line even when you’re stopped

Yea I'm lost at this technique as well. No since is driving recklessly and not keeping aware of your surroundings just my thoughts I always love the videos but why keep trolling when your on?

Hey! You can't truly keep tension on a fish the same way you do when you're pulling them behind the boat/ski. We have a lot of wahoo, kingfish and barracuda here, if you try to stop the boat and crank as hard as possible to maintain tension the fish can still go whatever direction they please but when you're trolling they're constantly being pulled constantly and tension is maintained regardless of how much you crank. This is a common practice with toothy critters to avoid getting cut off and fish like mahi, sailfish and marlin that like to jump and can easily shake hooks.

There is nothing reckless about this, I'm very aware of my surroundings and constantly look over my shoulder and steer the watercraft. Thanks for watching!
