Catching MASSIVE crayfish and more in an irrigation channel.

For the record, I was NOT targeting Murray Crayfish. This area is closed to crayfishing and even if it was open, the season is closed and this massive crayfish is over size.
I was fishing in an irrigation channel with bait. The main target species was yellowbelly (Golden perch), and redfin (English perch).

Hi Robbie i believe a channel like you were fishing is used for drainage and irrigation and a canal is used for boat traffic hence why there's a low bridge there. That Crayfish was one of the biggest i've seen you catch, as for the carp here in the UK i find that Sweetcorn and Trout pellets ( different flavours ) are great for them.
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much mate. That makes PERFECT sense. I'm not even going to google it, I'm running with that. I watch a channel called blackcountrypiker over in England and he fishes in canals and sometimes boats go past. Sweetcorn is excellent bait for carp. I tend to use it a lot more during winter for some reason.

No wonder the crays get big when you chuck a bloody great big dead carp in, I was after a bigger Perch (your redfins) and I hooked a 20 lb carp, then 2 more a bit smaller, unfortunately, we have to put them back alive in the UK. Crays don't grow very big here and you need a license to catch them, even signals, really enjoying your videos Robbie, take care, Norfolk, UK Ray

A thought a B double had a small B trailer at the front and a larger A trailer at the back, and a truck with two large trailers was an A double. B doubles have turntables but A doubles have a draw bar between them, and are classed as a road train. That's what I thought but I could be wrong. And a B triple has 2 small B trailers and an A trailer. Either way, it had a road train sign at the front and back. LOL

Why don't you ever catch crayfish in your yabbie nets???
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing Жыл бұрын
Hi mate, they tend to bite at different times of the year, and have different requirements. Yabbies love warm, dirty water with poor oxygen. Crayfish prefer clear, cold water with a higher level of oxygen. They will die without oxygen in the water. In a place like this there will be bother, but when the waters cold the yabbies don't bite and when the waters warm the crayfish don't bite. It is possible to catch them both in the one net, but not common.
