You're talking about making your own flies, this year I started making my own soft plastics. I started with some molds from Fusion-X Fishing & Angling AI (I do open pour, I don't have an injector) and now I'm making some of my own design. Made them in oven bake clay, then made a silicone mold around it so I can pour from it. Best one so far is a long grub/trailer with a really tight motion. It's amazing to me how cheap the hobby is to keep going once you start. Yeah, a bit of colorant will run you like $7-10 each... but it lasts a long time. A gallon of plastic makes SO MANY lures... I made nearly 400 with my first gallon, which is around $35-60.

Re: the butterflies on that rock, there's two equally likely things going on. One is that something about that soil had extra minerals in it, and the other is that some animal (or person) had urinated there and, same as natural minerals, they're after the remainder in the mud. It's called 'puddling'.

🎣 when I do Creek fishing, especially when it comes to trout fishing I will use nothing but small Berkley power baits. Two of my favorites are 1/2" cm power nymphs--Brown orange is a good one to use and then there's 3 inch floating trout worms in orange peel. Berkley Powerbaits do you work for trout. I have two different fishing backpacks filled with nothing but Berkely power bait. Nice little creek this is, plus a great video too.

Mike, when you get back to Jacksonville, try the fishing bridge between Duval and Nassau Counties. They built a new bridge over Nassau Sound and left the old one as a fishing bridge. If you go in from the Nassau county side, there is a nice bait and tackle store over there. Good Red Bass and Trout fishing.

You should try a yellow and black striped rosster tail for trout fishing this summer it works great on trout in summer and spring fishing or if your in Florida try a teaser rig for flounder fishing.

Them blue fox lures or what every other brand you had to start off with in my opinion you cast up the stream and your line with floor down and your lure will basically do a horseshoe retrieve in the water

For snakes I’d use a small frog or a spinner/chatter. If they’re being aggressive they’ll eat a lot of things even senkos and jigs and stuff but sometimes they can be super finicky

If you ever wonder why 2 very useful important items are very far apart in a store it's the "milk and bread" theory of store design where basket drivers are put in places to force the longest path of travel through a store to trigger as many impulse purchases as possible. tldr; The worms are no where near the fishing gear because they know with high likelihood if you want fishing gear you probably want worms and can force you to pass more stuff to get them.
