Thanks so much for the kind words mate. I would have been so upset if that fish didn't recover!
@AndrewFishman Жыл бұрын
Thanks for not holding its jaw and swishing it back and forth in some imagined attempt to do good for the fish. This may work well enough for tunnel breathers in the salt water which breath by water forced through the mouth and over the gills, but freshwater fish breathe in through the gills and out through the mouth, with the jaw movement providing the pumping action. By jaw locking them whilst swishing them you are effectively drowning a freshie. Love your approach and exactly the right release method, once you actually got it into the water @@RKJFishing

Well done, great fish. You don't see trout like that much anymore in those small waterways. I noticed that the willows had been removed in the beginning. Some creeks i fished for trout had the same thing done, now the trees have gone so have the fish.water temp, cover?
@RKJFishing Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Craig! I certainly wasn't expecting it haha. The first stretch was definitely very quiet, I suspect they all headed upstream to where there was more vegetation and shade because that's when we started seeing fish. I reckon they're way more likely to be in the areas where they can hide from the birds, they wouldn't stand a chance in the open sections if there was a big bird of prey around

And I think the sardonic context of "professional" was well enough conveyed to feel comfortable taking the piss out of it ;) @@RKJFishing If I thought you were serious, I would have really ripped into you lol. As far as I am concerned, it is amusing to see the care most Aussies handle trout ad they are no more native or less invasive than carp are, which get a ceremonial bonk on the skull. Trout are just another import.

Thanks heaps Phil. There's a few spots along the Waranga channels where the gate just doesn't exist, those are my usual access points, along with a couple of spots accessed via a farmer's property (with permission).
