This session was RED HOT! The bites just didn't stop, I couldn't have asked for a better start to Spring. As usual the Jan Juc fishing worms proved irresistible to the local fish population. I ended up landing 8 fish in total, including a tench which is a species I'd never caught before!
I didn't even know there were any in the lower Campaspe River, although I now suspect that some were washed down the Eppalock spillway during the last flooding event.

Well done on that tench Rohan and I'm glad it went back, they're a beautiful fish. I caught my first one earlier this year too about the same size as yours and it went like a train. Unfortunately they are supposed to be destroyed in SA now, along with carp and redfin - but not trout, I just don't get it. I see the broken tip rod has made a comeback! By the way, I found some bells today, shall I mail them to you? 😁Hot session!

Thanks so much Frank. Vic Fisheries has pretty much the same rule for tench as they do redfin (encouraged to not release) but I personally consider tench to be a much better fish in the waterway than redfin are, although I'm sure somebody will disagree with me lol. I must need a stronger knife, the last time I tried to brain spike a big carp my knife snapped LOL tough buggers.
