Intuitive angling has risen to the top of my KZbin watching. I recently seen some of Randy’s footage from years ago and it made it even better to see what a hammer Randy has been in the sport. Randy is not just some guy. This guy is spilling the beans on a lifetime of fishing. It’s amazing insight. Thanks

Long time subscriber here Randy...generally really like your stuff. FWIW, I found this video, including the presentation, content, and title, to be especially good. Your willingness to share your years of experience and knowledge is GREATLY appreciated. Especially when you do it without having to get bogged down in all the KZbin related nonsense you deal with or worrying about comments. Thank you, Randy.

I always saw the positive in catching small fish - like you mentioned, if the small ones are there I figured the big ones are there, too. didn't think about the retrieve change or color difference - figured you'd just have to weed through the small ones to eventually get big ones. this is a great tip. super appreciate the knowledge.

Me too! For some reason here in kansas. At least in my local public fishing waters. They don't get very big. 1-2 lbers. I did however catch a big momma the other day. After chasing her for 3 years. Which got me to wondering. About lure size, color etc...so what I did what rigged up a jig and trailer in a fashion that made it jerk and swim in an erratic fashion. Like dieing. And it worked. At least in my mind that is what I am thinking. So I am going to test it out on some of the other local public ponds and see what happens.

If I am not catching fish, I found just moving to another portion of the lake often works. I try to make the move significant. Not just cross the slough to the other bank but make a run for a couple miles. Try docks instead of laydowns. Try dirty water or clear water. Find a windy bank. Change crankbait to spinnerbait.

For me in the summer, if I want big fish, I go at night. I've caught big ones in the day, but the night time seems to make them more active or easier to fool. I also catch less dinks at night. Seems like they go in hiding when the big girls are hungry. I know this isn't practical for most fisherman, but the night time is the right time!

If you want to catch bigger fish. You need to go to a spot that isn’t fish as often. Don’t always follow trails cause obviously people have gone thru there plenty of times for it to have a trail. Go off the grid a bit and you’ll be surprise to catch really big fishes. That’s my 2cents on what I believe. And it’s worked out plenty of times for me👌🏼

I live right where the Ozark plateau ends and the Mississippi delta begins. Summer is hot and humid and that's affects the fish activity especially on bodies of water that aren't very deep. At night our state bird the mosquito will drive you crazy, there's no beating them when you're surrounded by rice and more rice as well as oxbow lakes, rivers, sloughs and backwater creeks and ditches. I've never seen mosquitos like this anywhere else and it makes it impossible to night fish around them. It's very hard in the summertime. I have to head to the hills to do any comfortable fishing.

Interesting video! I try to think of Buck Perry’s guidelines to answer my fishing questions. Buck says that when small fish are in the shallows it’s an indication a movement to feed is taking place. Generally the biggest fish don’t go shallower than 10ft, so it would be a good time to fish deeper.

@@High-techRedneckFishing That is awesome! I'm definitely a student for life, trying to improve all the time. I'm out in Arizona so I'm fishing highland canyon reservoirs, namely Saguaro lake. It's tough fishing but Buck's guidelines have really helped me get into fish. I was never deep enough, now I'm fishing a lot in 15-20ft and hooking up with 3lb+ fish. Still a struggle to have control around the 20+ ft depths but I'm trying. Much to learn, I just keep reading the books.

This is way off topic. But I just listened to you on Dave mercers podcast. When it comes to the topic of live scope. I think looking at the tournament organization to change this is beating a dead horse. But I don’t believe this could come down on a state level. Because I hunt and where I hunt we can’t use things like electric game calls. And I seen some states banning trail cams for hunting. I think this could start happening with live scope at a state level. Just had that thought in my head and had to comment it before I forgot it 😂

And some things and sometimes Randy and I’ve know you notice that’s why you got a arsenal of anything you need to throw in Atwater here’s a difference and you know this from the bottom of your heart us electric anglers we can’t go 40 miles down the bank or down the river or upper Lake you know we can get there but we’re not gonna have the opportunity as most and I know this because I’ve been on a gods boat in another state and the fission was totally different I mean same tactic same material it’s like going to another classroom in another state the teaching is the same the techniques are different you’re always gonna have a little something different and that’s what people need to realize just because what you’re doing out there doesn’t mean I’m gonna do that here, Now all of our begins hang around 4 to 8 feet of water and depending on the lake if it’s deep after the spawn they go back down to 10 and 20 feet of water and they hang on the sides of the rocks and the ambush and most of my catches her of a crank baits but I can’t cast long enough to get my 6S D’s in my 25 foot divers down to a 25 foot strike zone

I'd settle for a dink. Been on an major dry spell, and it's not just me, almost no one is getting fish out here right now, the amount of baitfish is obnoxious and the fish are seeing so many anglers every day they have become numb to all stimulus, they aint hungry and they've seen a million lures in the last two months. The only people catching fish are the guys going for carp and catfish

@@soulshine2u yeah a bit of it probably is forsure but my slumps arent usually this bad and a lot of the anglers I've been talking too are having the same deal at the local mudhole. At best we can get them to follow bait back to shore or the boat but they just aren't committing like they were a few weeks back. I've seen one guy get a decent morning fish on a large topwater rat a week ago and that's been it. The only change in past weeks has been tons of baitfish spawning and a huge increase in people fishing. There's other lakes that always produce but I really don't want to sit in 2 hours of LA traffic to get to them
