Hi brilliant video,I do alot of trotting for chub myself on the river Sow in Stafford in the midlands,at 18mins 54 secs in on the video you pointed out little black speckles on the chub ! I'm concerned that this may be due to disease and it might be wise to inform the authorities about this as it might be something serious,it might be black spot disease also known as fluke disease (Diplopstomiasis) or something more serious !!! We are as they say the eyes of the river and should always look out for any irregularities, tight lines

If you go to a horse stables and leave a 5 note on the stable door saying thanks for the worms. Go and dig under the horse manure. Loads of the red worms you want. Just stretch them out before you fish with them. I get loads before I go. Keep them in the stagment moss.. For a couple of days. They work great a red worm and a mggot.....

Very nice fish bud =) I was wondering, over here in Germany it in my club it is actually forbidden to put perch into a keepnet with other kind of fish since they have scales that harm the other fishes skin resulting in them getting infections. Just in case you didnt know and might care about it =) Keep up the good work dude!

It`s because the barbel put every ounce of their strength into the fight once hooked and if you then put them into a keepnet they would go belly up.

I watch your videos with such envy. I've been coarse fishing for 36 years and the Kennet and Thames here in Berkshire appear devoid of decent fish. I think a huge part of the problem is the red signal crayfish explosion AND certain European's catching and removing fish. Such a shame as my 11 Yr old son is desperate to follow in my footsteps. Anybody else feel the same about certain southern rivers?

Great video and catch. Everyone should do what works for them but drives me mad watching people play fish off the clutch like that, still pulling back and the clutch giving line. Appreciate it works and each to their own but think it removes a lot of feel/skill from playing a fish.

Barbel snag you on the far bank and chub snag you on the near bank in my experience .
@Street_Living3 жыл бұрын
Bit of a noob question, but why can't barbel go in a keep net?
@robmtnet30003 жыл бұрын
The leading edge of the dorsal fin has a spiny ray which can easily get stuck in the mesh of a keepnet and cause damage to the dorsal. There's some real twats that have KZbin channels that think it's ok to keep fish in a landing net just to be able to take a photo of them to show off, one guy had 3 or 4 specimen perch in a tiny landing net. A landing net is not a keepnet and not of a legal size to keep more than one fish in. Some of these guys can really catch fish but are poor anglers.
@Street_Living3 жыл бұрын
@@robmtnet3000 cheers 👍 I've never used a keep net and don't plan to but it's always good to know more about the fish
@robmtnet30003 жыл бұрын
Good man. I watched a weigh in at the end of a match in the early 80s and one guys fish were all floating on the surface when he emptied his net and he looked up and said is it worth it, I didn't answer him because it was obvious. I had already stopped using a keepnet by then and was just about to start Barbel fishing and never found the need to use a keepnet again.

Super angling skills. I love your informative style and range you fish for. I do however question the barbed hook choice. I fish where they are banned. I’ve noticed the difference with respect to damage of mouths. It was horrendous in the past. You are careful but barbs are barbaric in the damage they do !
@markwatkins563 жыл бұрын
I disagree with this. I fished one particular lake that you were only allowed to use barbless hooks. The fishes mouths were severely damaged. Without a barb on the hook the hook just slides around the mouth does a lot more damage
@PHPW3 жыл бұрын
Almost 50 years of fishing. I agree to disagree. Best thing ever was banning barbs on a lot of waters. Particularly when you see how some people fish now. Launching the fish out of the water onto the bank etc.
