I hopped on this trip last minute with Kenny and BBC, it was going to be a long range Fluke trip followed by night Striper Fishing, the boat left at 7am and we didn't get on the Fluke grounds til about 10am, I started off getting my first keeper on a chicken rig, and quickly switched to a 2oz jig with a 6" Gulp grub, casting it out and jigging it back to the boat. There was slack calm conditions today meaning the drift was super slow, got some decent fish on the Gulp but silly me forgot most of my Gulp at home. Thankfully the Chub Mackerel are thick out there on the fluke grounds and we were able to jig chubs with ease, any time we needed bait. Filleted the mack, stripped it and tipped it on the jig and the fish loved it, my biggest fish of the day at 8lb+ came on the mack strip. Toward evening we moved back to the Lighthouse to Striper fish, but knowing the striper bite would be slow to start, we chose to jig for scup with small jigs (epoxy jigs) and got around a dozen nice scup between us before it got dark and we started eelin. I did not film the night stuff but there wasnt a ton to film anyway as the bite was pretty slow, but the boat did have some nice stripers. The most miraculous part of this trip is that after not sleeping thursday night, fishing all day friday night til 1am sat morning, kenny still found the strength to make the 4 hour drive home.
(Ocearch boat at 1:03, they were tracking juvenille great whites)
Jiggin rod shown here is a St Croix Mojo Inshore 7' amzn.to/2vFXqUC
Reel is a Shimano Stradic 5k amzn.to/2vG7jkZ
Line is 20lb sufix 832 amzn.to/2vGjvT2
Best Gulp! for party boat flukin- amzn.to/2wKxc7f
No SP Minnows were used on this trip but you prob need some for the upcoming season- amzn.to/2wKE3gW
This was the hot sh*t my buddy bill outfished me with at the canal on a recent slow morning most recently... I just bought 3 except I paid 2$ more at a shop - amzn.to/2wKjFwn

You had a few nice catches there, especially that big slob at the end. Which boat did you go out on? Have you tried the 125' Big Jamaica in Jersey yet? From late September - December they do offshore tuna, mahi, swordfish trips etc... Another good boat is the Dauntless out of Point Pleasant and the Bingo in the Atlantic Highlands.

Ok cool, yeah I'm over in the western Long Island Sound and we don't get to much mackerel, maybe in the fall sometimes but in the summer usually no. Good to know, Ive been using just gulps and Squid, they work well but would like to try bunker strips, maybe could entice more bites.
@swagdawgwill11

RegressMeNot no kidding poor Kenny. Dude doesn't know how to guide a fish to the net and then blames the net guy. Who brings a fish straight up under the net? Obviously he realized he what he was doing wrong because he started swinging them in from the side from then on.

Hey man, nice vid. I wish I had the time to fish like you! At the end of this vid if I'm not mistaken you said NJ flounder season is over on 9/5, but according to my NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife Pocket Ranger app it ends 9/25. EDIT: the app hasn't been updated, and YOU WERE RIGHT, it's 9/5! Should've known you'd be on top of it.
