I’ve always wondered why anyone builds homes close to where they know hurricanes can and do come through, , I still think of hurricane Katrina and people being in feces and dead rotten victims of that hurricane and the people starving can’t get help it’s horrible , so looks like people would learn to stay away from those areas as much as possible, even here in Arkansas we can get the effects of hurricanes at times , and I’m as close to the water as I want to be, and I do feel sorry for the people who are in those areas,

I just want to know why ground observations never come close to the hurricane ratings which is what the hurricane scale is for? Cat 4 eye wall just went over buoy and only recorded 71 mph sustained wind and 107 mph gusts. This happened with every hurricane i started tracking.
