Im not a huge fan of CAT but that ASV weighs about 1,300lbs less then the CAT and they both are at the same HP level. Its by nature going to be slower in movement & less responsive, its moving 1,300lbs more around the whole time. The CAT 259D is a more comparable machine. With that said youd think it would have been able to drag the ASV around when they were hooked up? Another fun video Stan! Well worth the watch!!

@CarsonSchifsky6 жыл бұрын
I would imagine it has different hydraulic pumps as well but I’m not sure. In the weight and pulling test yes you’d think it should have pulled the asv then because of the weight. But keep in mind that asv’s track system has far superior traction especially on sand like that. Those tracks are incredibly grippy. There kind of 2 totally different machines for built for different purposes. Was an awesomely entertaining video though that’s for sure! Haha love it!

The first one he couldn't prove it was the machine so had to use his insurance but the second machine they stopped the fire in time and cat realized it was their fault. I do like that cat took full responsibility and replaced the second machine and covered all the cost and money lost from the first one that the insurance didn't cover actually they handled it so well I gained a lot of respect for cat when it happened. I am a bobcat guy myself but wouldn't think twice about buying anything cat because of Ziegler and all the dealer support.

I love mine. The hydraulic pump is a little noisy and the windows rattle a little, but I just rolled over 1000 hours and it hasnt had 1 single problem. As for the noise, put a radio in it to drown out the noise. If you want a machine that isnt loaded down with technology that constantly has problems, like to tell the machine what to do and not the other way around (many of the machines like the cat, uses electric over hydraulic, the kubota is straight hydraulic when it comes to the controls), you'll probably like the Kubota.

ASV makes a solid machine. They are comfortable and have traction that is superior to most other brands. They were made for the forestry industry and to be used in remote situations where getting stuck or stranded could make or break you. I switched over this year from John Deere and the pros definitely out weigh the cons. My only real complaint is the visibility while using the forks attachment for delicate loads. Overall ASV is great. The Deere was also a solid rig and reliable just older. I've ran a few cats they were like Cadillac's on the inside with every bell and whistle. You definitely pay for that stuff I think a comparable ASV is more affordable and the new ones are very impressive.

What I have found here, in North-East Iowa, is that Cat's skid steer service is spotty. If the "big" stuff is running your screwed on getting a skid steer serviced. The skid steers are Cat cheapest item so you can understand the focus. I owned an ASV 15 years ago. It was total junk. I know they redesigned them but I am still leery of the product. I know lots of folks talk up every other brand but I have owned about all of them and Bobcat still makes a pretty darn good product.

So even though the ASV has "way more power," it stalled in the dirt test, which is what I can't stand about ASV, they're gutless. The reason the Cat has the bar in the back is for the vertical lift feature. Good luck loading a full-size truck with the ASV. Also, don't bother using the ASV is gravel, because it will destroy that rubber and plastic roller system.

Exactly, love our CAT 287, but it chews off rubber wheels like its its job in stone or mud. Have to do wide 3 pts turns. We did steel wheels in back, but the idler wheels across bottom get replaced yrly

287 has same ASV bottom, awesome in snow tho lol

Different product line, but we stayed with Hitachi excavators because the CATs were way too gutless.

I think the stalking thing is the asv will deliver 100% power until it just stalls the engine. The cat starts to throttle the hydraulic pumps so it won’t stall the engine. (Like riding the clutch) someone correct me if I’m wrong but that’s what I’ve heard before from some people.

@@CarsonSchifsky you are correct, sir!

Loved the CAT 297D at my last job. The backup camera was probably the best feature of it, as well as the HVAC cab.

I want you to test out the JCB teleskid
@gloknor6 жыл бұрын
Yeh I have an asv but the teleskid looks really nice and I like the side entry on it which is great if you have to get out with bucket up. The downside is I heard the boom gets twisted but I have my doubts and still would like to get one .

Interesting video. Now, it's not fully scientific as there are many variables, but I appreciate the effort to try and keep it as fair as possible by switching operators and using same size buckets. I also enjoyed the video from a purely entertainment aspect, so I rate it about 13 out of 7 hardhats.

Lol the rebuild and frequently required rebuild of ASV undercariage is insane. Nice when new but they become costly machines quickly. Il take the undercarriage of the cat

This is great stuff. As for Pickup trucks, I would tell you not to use them for plowing snow. Use construction or agricultural equipment for snow. Trucks were designed for payloads and towing, not pushing things. Even in my town, the DOT stopped using class 8 trucks with plows and now just uses Volvo wheel Loaders for snow. Even the heavy duty class 8 trucks were feeling the bad effects from plowing.

Asv was going to buy it back. were I work we got a new cat 289D the boom was off by 1in on one side . it was was great if you wanted fall going a certain way . Nobody said any thing when i found out our cat dealer R.P. said it was fine . one of i guys saw them changing a boom out on a one at dealer . The boss just dropped it we are still useing it we have 2 . The 287C has 5000 hrs 3rd set of tracks numerous hyd hoses blown . break a bucket release pin cly hose you you will lose alll your hyd fluid. I could go on get all brands togeather and do real world test not the BS video the manufactures make. thanks stanley keep the videos coming
