Looks like a powerful machine. The operator is pretty consistent. Clearing the pit floor with the bucket however is not really a good idea. Thanks for a good video..

This is at agoldf minme. The machine is too big ans string for me. I cna lift that many rucks at the saem atyime as this bulldozer. Ity is striong like a monster frm outerspace but it is HUGE and string like a bullkdozers. Thans you for making this vidoes!

I am not a 100% sure of his reasons to operate like that but I am guessing he swings right to see. I haven’t ever run a shovel but with the big backstop on that bucket I would assume that are blind to what is going on in front of bucket so he swings to the right to make sure he has a secure pile that isn’t about to lose a huge rock rolling down into machines. I think he is actually looking out for his machine but this is all based on assumption

Kind of a rare machine. Is it essentially a 385/390 with a front shovel configuration? They’re about the same size, no?

Yes and no, the 5090 was discontinued because it was outsold by the 385D/390F construction class machine in the same capacity, which was way cheaper than a mining class machine. After Cat bought O&K mining (through Bucyrus, which bought it from Terex) the entire 5000 series was replaced by the 6000 series based on O&K RH70-400 Just the O&K based 110 ton 6015 was getting too small for mining, so they resurrected the old 5110 as 6015B, a 140 ton machine which is now Cat's smallest mining machine. Mining machines are constructed to go 30.000hrs between rebuilds, where construction machines (385/390) about 20.000 which causes a price difference.
