These machines would work so much more efficient if they were sitting on top of the material they are digging rather than trying to cut into the bank. They might only want to dig half as deep but at least they would get full loads.

Why is that machine not on a bench? The way they have that stripping operation set up, a front shovel would be quite a bit more efficient.
