I ran an 826 for years, they are good solid machines, we put lots of car tires on the trailer to prevent trailer damage when we had to haul them.

I worked at Fresh Kills Landfill for 28 years as a Tractor Operator. We had "real" heavy duty trailers 15 foot wide , both lowboys and beam trailers. I have pushed many "down" compactors onto the lowboys with dozers, without a scratch. Why? Because the traier was made for it, with 1 1/2 inch diamond plate and 14x6 hard wood decking. When we need to transport a machine off of Staten Island, we used our "beam trailers" that were likewise robust. IMHO, a beam trailer in this instance would be the way to go. But, definitely a more heavy duty (specifically designed for moving big dozers, and compactors) is needed, if you are going to be moving that equipment on a regular basis.

You haul them on a beam trailer. To unload you raise the trailer and put wood underneath the wheels. Lower the trailer down and disconnect the gooseneck. Hook a chain to the back of the trailer and pull it out from under the machine.

MAYBE some very heavy duty belting such as they use in mines. Inch or inch and a half and meant for the impact of rocks hitting it constantly. A layer of that on your trailer likely would distribute the tire spikes sufficiently to prevent most of the damage. However the stuff is HEAVY, not that your trailer will care much but you wouldn't be able to put it on without mechanical help.

Like to see this engine checked, and tried to make running. 2nd: how aboat converting a chain binder. Instead of hooks put eyes on the end. Put the eyes in the pins and turn till you have the right length.
