Those tite loks are made to be portable rod holders. I have had one for years and it works great! Maybe try clamping it with a piece of wood so it can get a better grip. Thanks for sharing your boat specs with us!

I came across you video while looking for ideas on how to set up a Jon boat I just purchased. I too live in the KCMO area and would like to do some river catfishing. I have a 1660 Lowe flat bottom with the flat nose semi V front. My motor is a Mercury 15hp 2 stroke that runs strong. Given your experience on the river systems in the area do you feel that my setup could safely navigate the Missouri during normal flows?? Great video, I watched some of your others as well. Thanks

I appreciate the tips! my trolling motor has saves me more times than I can count, too. Have you tried a board on those cheap holders instead of mounting straight to the aluminum. That seamed to help on my cheap holders.

Hey did you put a piece of wood between the rod mount and the boat? If so, would you recommend something different? Im installing scotty rod mount but the gunnel of my boat is interfering so i need to add a spacer between the two. Im thinking about adding a piece of wood like you did, but I'm trying to come up with something different thats a little easier on the eyes.

Like the winch idea.

How much weight would you trust those rod holders with? You trust your rods in em if a 50lb fish hits your rod at 30ft deep? I'm thinking about buying some for my boat, but curious what kinda weight they can hold up to

Hey I was wanting to get a small boat for the arkansas river. I've only seen two boats in the river. can I ride the river where are all the docks and whats the rules. I can find nothing about it on the internet.
@wildcatfisherman61977 жыл бұрын
you would need your boat registered if it is powered by a motor and a Kansas fishing license if you are wanting to fish other then that if you don't have a motor you are good

If you would have put a block of wood on the outside of your boar that $10 rod holder would have been a lot more stable.

FYI, the Missouri River don't run 8 mph.
@wildcatfisherman61978 жыл бұрын
In the spring the river flow can average five to six miles mph, sometimes more. In the late summer or fall the flow averages two to three mph, so no not 8 mph but its still a fast river !!
