1 large Catfish
green mango
approx. 5 ochro / okra
lemon to wash fish
1 1/2 tsp curry powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp roasted ground geera ( cumin )
1 small onion
1 head garlic
1 tomato
1 stem celery
2 stem scallion
2 broad leaf thyme / puddina
pepper to taste
salt to taste

Really nice dish. When the fish was being cut through, I felt it in the palm of my hand. Just the memory of cutting fish that way made my palm hurt. Usually I fillet my fish over here in Ontario when I catch them. I should go to the West Indian market and buy some Gilbaka and curry it the same way. Thanks.

I saw this cat fish, my sister in Bartica, ESQ, who died in June this year. Her favourite all time fish curry she loved the head of the carfish the most. Also the chicken foot don't know what it's called just the foot. Curry looks good I normally add more tomatoes for colour also.

We do not use ginger in fish curry but yes you can add thyme and turmeric if you like.

I know many like to fry the fish first, but I personally don't. It is more tasty without the frying to me.
