Dave, I used to love running trot lines as a boy. Used to ride around in a commercial fisherman’s boat and made my own from scratch. I have used ivory soap, muscles, sponges cut up and soaked in cheese, hot dogs, everything. I had access to untold numbers of skip jacks and never thought about using them for bait. And if I did, it would have been pieces about the size of a small grape. I never knew catfish would bite such huge chunks

I know guys that used whole chickens and baby pigs looking for moby but I will say they never caught any thing with those huge baits and super duper jumbo hooks.

We’re from down the mountain in Marion. My wife and I just got back from Watts Bar. This was our 6th trip. Catfish Dave has taught us so much. Love his videos! She has hit the 30lb club 3 times so far. Maybe I’ll get there some day …lol… No biggies this trip, but caught 77 in 3 days. 🎣

Hey Dave, have you ever used Buffalo fish cut bait ?every larger blue I have caught at toledo bend or Sam Rayburn has had Buffalo or its bones in its gut. So one day I foul hooked a 30lb Buffalo and kept it. I roughly fileted it after scaling and have been using it with pretty fair success for cut bait
