You're not lying. Been bank fishing for cats since 14 years old. Have had boats take my line in their trolling motors and kids step on my rods. It's a tough enough game with the fish let alone dealing with the unknowns. Stay positive Big Cat! 🎣

Memorial day weekend here in Bowie Texas is near impossible to fish the local lake Amon G Carter reservoir. There are so many boats, jetskies, and drunks you can't catch any fish. For the same reasons it is dangerous to be there. Most any holiday weekend during spring and summer are a dangerous time to be at our lake.

I had a cousin named David. Grandpa used to call him "Bitter Dave" cause he bitched all the time. So everyone in the family started calling David, "Bitter Dave." After a few years, grandpa changed his name to "Bitter Daisy." And the family followed. 😂😂 I'm not sure why this fishing video reminded me of that. 🤔😉

I watched some of your videos and it's amazing the fish you land sometimes but what gives me stitches laughing is your singing, swallowing bugs and not editing it out, pacing back and forth and most of all your dagblasted commentaries. I can relate to the idiots in boats. I fish for tarpon off the bank and the boat traffic in my area is ridiculous. They speed right through no wake zones, idle zones, and manatee areas. They stir up the bottom and muddy up the water, go inside the swim buoys off the beach where they aren’t supposed to be, and chase the tarpon out of the area until the water clarity improves. It only gets worse every year because everyone just has to have a boat and more and more yankees keep moving down here unfortunately. Some of these clowns will even set up and fish right on top of you when they have access to go anywhere, it’s ridiculous. There’s many similarities with bank catfishing and bank tarpon fishing. It ain’t gonna be all glory days and it takes time put in. You gotta know about spots, know about bait, where the fish will be at any given time of year, and you really have to just enjoy having lines in the water and fish for the challenge and sport of it rather than try to be a social media hero. The gear also has similarities I also use conventional reels and mono..that stretch in the line really helps against large jumping and thrashing fish, keeps them from popping the hook out when that line has some give to it. Plus the abrasion resistance is key for bank fishing with a lot of line in the water around potential cutoff hazards.
@nf43493 жыл бұрын
To keep the blue gill from swallowing the hook use a short shank with a small squeeze weight next to the hook. It works I was using the short shank with the pinch weight 6-8 inches up swallowing it. Found some long shank was thrilled it was even worse. Short shank.with squeeze weight next to it,give it a try. Weight doesn't seem to bother the perch don't seem to swallow it then.

Cat fishing does not get the respect on KZbin that all the other species get especially bass and Crappie . When I put out videos on bass or Croppie, they get 10 times or more the view count than a catfish video gets. Problem is I like cat fishing! You know you are a cat fisherman when you spend a good portion, if not the majority of your time trying to catch bait so you can actually go catfishing. I know you are the real deal Catfish Dave because you are always after the bait. What’s really fun is when you are fishing for bait and you catch a catfish on your bait rod. One of the biggest cats I caught last summer was on a 1/4” piece of worm and a #12 mustad hook trying to get bluegill for bait. Ha ha.
