Thanks for the rigging tips, super useful info. Those channel cats were giants, awesome catches Denny.

I’ve seen that happen many times when catching catfish from the bank. Especially larger channel cats. They’ll be another one that follows the hooked fish all the way to shore and it would freak me out lol.

never mentioned what type of bait you were using. Also what lake is this

Fresh cut bluegill. I have a general policy to not spout off about the location. It keeps the locals from hating me ;)

Nice rig. Looking for a fish gripper that works better than the crappy one I bought online.

They're pretty special once they get up over 15 lbs. I wish they got as big as blues. Pound for pound they have a lot more fight!

Beautiful fish! Hey Denny, is your main line braid? The little rubber stops will stay put on braid, huh? Good to know. I’ve never used those as I always thought the wire would damage line if I was using mono or flouro, and have just never used a braid or superline in a float application.
@FloatFishAdventure5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! My mainline is the WST 85# braid. The large size stops in the link are a perfect fit. I get what you're saying about the wire. I don't really think it would be a problem but either way but I run it on my line down by the end where I'm going to tie my swivel and then slide it up. That spot usually ends up being the left over tag that gets trimmed off anyway.

I've just tied mono onto mono or braid onto braid using the stopper knot. Super easy, always have it on hand, and never comes loose which is the problem. I use rubber bands if I set it @ 10-12' or less. All kinds of cool ways to to that but like the beads, bands are rubber. I've been doing great at a lake w/emergent/submerged HORROR till it gets deeper than 20'. You catch a gill and pull in 10#'s of weeds! You have to find the edges all around it and no motor lake. Secret 7/stink bait and Texas rigged anything have been catching channels/flatheads/large mouths/'eyes. No Perch/Crappie/Pike/Skies even carp yet??? Not even the everyday guys.

Nice fish Denny, looks like a hell of a day for early spring. Ever fish the Wapsi for flatheads? Also do you have a trolling motor on your kayak?
