As a young Navajo kid who spent quite a bit of time on the Rez I was always told not to wander too far or go out at night or leave anything that can be tied to you (baby diapers, foot prints of your feet, hair, and possessions your closely bonded with) because Skinwalkers will try to get it to hurt and kill you. Skinwalkers prefer going after babies and kids. They'll talk to you, they want you to hurt and suffer, they'll try to convince you to hurt yourself by making you frustrated because you feel like you're going insane, they'll cause you to hallucinate, then when they're strong enough/got enough of your things specifically/finally are done tormenting you they kill you. Naarah seems like a young girl who became an easy target of a Skinwalker because she never learned what a Skinwalker is and how to avoid landing on their radar. Only a Medicine Man could have stopped a Skinwalker so keen on Naarah, but she was taken from her culture so her death was inevitable.

I'm thinking that Gideon's disgusting Libation cake might be related to "corsned", or trial by ingestion. This was another form of medieval trial by ordeal like burning or ducking where the accused had to eat a piece of consecrated bread with cheese, and if they choked they were guilty. It's commonly known as "trial by cake" in pop culture (such as in the Horrible Histories books where I first heard about it). That would explain why Gideon is able to eat Libation no problem, along with the scene at 44:59 where Elon and Naarah are being forced to eat the cake in front of a congregation/court?

Interestingly, on the episode "Banana" There's a mysterious credit for the voice of "Robert D" who I have to assume is the banana. The info from the game on that same episode doesn't have "Robert D" but has "R Dudley", who died at the age of 9. This suggests that the banana was originally Robert Dudley, and his age explains why he had such a difficult time dealing with his new form, and why he was so terrified of Elon and couldn't do anything more than freak out and say her name. He was just a traumatized 9 year old boy.

Something small but very important that I think a lot of people have missed: The Q&A video is when we first meet the Skinwalker; when we ask who he is, he suddenly appears and says "You are nosy!" In the same video, we later ask how Gideon met Elon and Naarah. Elon says "cause he's nosy!" Gideon met the Skinwalker. And he found out what happens to nosy people.

What makes that especially interesting to me is that part of skin-walker lore is their ability to possess people. And how does the skin-walker appear for that clip? By effectively replacing - or, if you will, *possessing* - Gideon in that moment. In addition, the same kind of thing happens with the dog-bird and the trio's old forms later on. Although I suppose the case could also be made that, in a way, the appearance of their old forms might be the skin-walker *turning into* or *disguising itself as* the latter, especially since that seems to be about the time the dog-bird becomes normal again. And while it's true that skin-walkers can disguise themselves as or turn into others, from what I can tell, that only seems to work with animals, so I'm personally more willing to believe it to be possession. Having said that, I also won't deny the possibility that the old forms of Gideon, Elon, and Naarah returning for that scene is just current Naarah hallucinating, likely out of fear.

The idea of(read as: weak attempt at justification for) witch dunking is that if they did sink and drown, they were innocent and not witches so they would go to heaven. I think it's likely that gideon, who I believe has mentioned or alluded to being a christian, believed his daughter would at least get in to heaven if he could do that instead of burning her. I don't think he hoped she would survive.

I think the one question asked in episode 8 "is Elon a good person or a monster" and she responds in Spanish "why not both" is a good answer to how she is throughout this whole series.... though it does make me question what she does that is "good" also the dog killing was worse for Naarah because she stated in the user video "dogs are her favorite animal" I really like the end screen too, with references to all of the deep dives done, such as all the slender man groups on the right and on the left stuff such as Camdrone, and other series. Here's my theory on where they are and why. Elon used magic either while dying or near it to cast her and naarus spirits somewhere safe in the future, accidentally or intentionally bringing the others along. What she found was a video game, and it allowed her to create and inhabit a video game world, a non physical digital reality. Ghosts in the machine. Think about how everything loops, how everyone respawns, and it nails why there's game stuff all over it. She made a matrix, and Malone is telling her this pocket world can be a heaven or a hell, but it will never be real. She would regret leaving the simulation where she has control but it would be the best thing for her.

I know this might be a bit weird but after watching this I have a bit of a theory about the Skin Walker. Essentially I decided to look something back up since I sorta remember some myths I heard about them but one of the things I found about Skin Walkers specifically was they were sorta the dark version to the medicine men, a sort of witch to a priest if you will. So I was thinking, what if Naarah was the daughter of a medicine man, it might explain why she was possibly drawn to Elon and why the Skin Walker keeps appearing. Maybe the Skin Walker is Naarah's actual parent, at least one of them or if not that then a relative at least. When Beth took Naarah the medicine man essentially went berserk in their quest for revenge desiring to make Beth suffer for what she did, even if it means the death of others or even Naarah herself just to make sure that Beth suffers the most?

OH MY GOD I JUST FIGURED IT OUT! Malone mentions a fine line between witchcraft and science and states that Elon is stuck in a loop. In the episode of the Catghost characters answering questions, , we're shown what is essentially an old school computer screensaver that hides a visual of a literal game featuring the Catghost characters called Party Country. Each episode is linked to an actual game we can play. So what does this all add up to? The purgatory that everyone is stuck in IS the Party Country game we were shown and they're forced to relive the entire Catghost storyline again and again through people playing/watching it.

I think Elon was tried and executed before Naarah. At least, that's my interpretation of various Beth scenes - trying to convince Naarah that Gideon was just doing his duty, saying she'll clean up the mess, telling Naarah she didn't intend this to happen. And Naarah talking about Elon in past tense at her trial by water. That sounds to me like Beth tried to shield Naarah by putting the blame on Elon, and Naarah kicked up enough of a fuss that she implicated herself anyway.

It's so strange how little recognition this series got. Everything about it is so interesting to me, the soundtrack, the story, and the narrative. I wish it got to a bigger crowd.

The question I have is "Why doesn't Gideon remember ANYTHING?" Seriously, all of the other characters have some sort of idea of who they used to be but Gideon doesn't. Why is GIDEON the lynch pin in this whole set up? Why isn't it Elon or Naarah, or even Azule.. why Gideon? That's the thing I've been hoping to find out since we came to understand that his memory, out of everyone's, is the only one that is blank.

It could be that either Gideon just doesn't WANT to remember or the way he was brought into this whole thing is how he lost his memory.

@@Takeninthelight I went back and rewatched the Q&A and he DOES mention that. He doesn't "remember dying" but he "remember being born". Which involved a portal "in his room" and passing through it, and that's how he was "born". Not that far from Beth, but still doesn't explain why his recollection is so shit. It actually could be that he doesn't WANT to remember. He makes a point several times to avoid things that "make" him "feel".

Naarah was stolen from natives. One of the tribes, Navaho, have a creature in their myths called Skinwalker. It can shapeshift. I guess it's somehow connected
