Nice work on the hive, please take a look at Dillon Martin's videos,he also has made a few cathedral hives with additions to the plans. He's doing a project to help his surrounding area regarding getting folks into beekeeping. You won't be disappointed they are awesome

I wonder how the spacers for the honeycomb bars will be integrated.

Nice Job on building the Cathedral hive, looks great! Your extended roof will definitely keep rain off the landing board and as you say it looks nice! I also like your under roof blocks, great addition. Looking forward to seeing more videos when you get your bees in. Corwin Bell of Backyardhive

How much would this hive cost and where are you located
@nwnjba5 жыл бұрын
This particular hive was created by a local beekeeper and is a one-off. He is not offering them for sale and created this on behalf of this beekeeper as a favor. We are not aware of anyone that sells these commercially. It is possible that the plans are out there and the bee source forum would likely be a good place to research if anyone is making these commercially.

Hello. Love this hive. I tried to go to the link you mentioned to purchase the plans, but the site doesn't look to exist. Can you share the actual link, or anywhere else I might find the plans for this one?

I haven't been able to see how the bee highway works. Is there a gap between the bars where they can drop down? The bars are snug on top, like a TBH, so I can't figure out how they would access anything other than the first and last frames that way
@nwnjba6 жыл бұрын
Hi Serena. The holes in the top bars are down from the flat part where the frames mate up when placed alongside of each other. The taper allows the bees to exit the holes at each frame.

@nwnjba4 жыл бұрын
Ivan, the plans are for sale from the creator of the hive > backyardhive.com/collections/the-cathedral-hive-plans

I know the creator but he don't answer to mail. Buy plans cost only 25$. The truble is the cost of shipping for paper, 50$ + tax 😱. I want to pay the plan but i prefer to have the plan only by pdf. I have ask it to it's mail but don't answer😣😔

@@ivanbusso8015 Hm, ok. The dilemma is clear. . I am not the member in the video and I seem to recall that he had someone else - another beekeeper that is a woodworker who had the plans, build this hive for him. My guess is he doesn't have the plans either. I am not familiar with who built the hive for him. If I see him I can ask but likely you'll have to keep pestering the creator to service you 'the customer'.

Good job! What you said about the bees not being able to move freely across the top bars on a langstroth isn't true though, I'm wondering if you meant to say a regular top bar hive rather than langstroth , because of the bee space in a langstroth the bees are able to move freely all around the frame apart from the couple square inches were the frame is hanging from.. keep up the good work..

Please am really interested in this, how can I get it and how much is it? where can I order it? I urgently need it please

This was a handcrafted, one off build by a local woodworker. If you look on Google for Cathedral hive plans, you will find them available.

Love the concept and will add it to one of my Top Bar hives I built 2 years ago. The other hive will get a saltpond hive on top.

So it's basically equivalent to a longer 20 frame langstroth hive but using non standard sizes. Looks nice, but might be expensive and a lot of work to replicate as you grow to 10 to 20 hives (Yeap it happens 😁)

Yes, tried a different camera and quite frankly the sound it capture was terrible because of the case it is in. Will rectify that before we use it again.
