I wrote Living By Faith in early 1970. I had sulphuric acid thrown in my face by my mother and was blind for two days. God gave me the assurance everything would be alright. Then my pastor came and told me that Jesus healed a man who was blind. So he asked me to reach out by faith and receive a healing from my blindness. Then I could see! Living By Faith was written in Flemish.

This is one of Danny Funderburk's classic signature songs. I had the opportunity to meet him in person when I was at a gospel concert over in Lancaster Pennsylvania at the time he had formed a group with his son and I believe Kirk Talley's brother Rodger and a young man singing Bass by the name of Chris West called Silent Power . He was so nice to talk to. And he was so down to earth too. He is one of my all-time favorite tenor singers and if I have to describe his singing. I Believe In the words of the late George Younce who sang Bass with the Cathedral Quartet," George would often say when Danny sings He has power he can take the roof right off the top of a church, he has power to burn. And he is still going strong today ministering the gospel. You always will be one of my all-time favorite Tenors in southern gospel music.

In 1981, I was thrown from car and suffered massive injuries head to toe...my brain swelled, severe whiplash, broken collar bone, some paralysis, muscle/nerve damage head to toe. My bp went high enough to kill me. I went blind. My pastor prayed for me. As soon as he said "Amen", the swelling immediately went down and I got my sight back, all of it! Doctors had said no hope of living, if so, I'd be in vegetated state. Second time,..1997, I had meningitis & encephalitis. It's second time brain swelled, plus inflamed. Doc did all He could. Told my family to make funeral arrangements. I went into coma. Grandma did not give up..she raised me in church. She had everyone praying. A church out of town one evening called, said tongues & interpretation went forth & God said I would not die. That same evening, around same time that happened, I started coming out of my coma. God let me live. He's extended my life. I wasn't living for Him at the time, but I've turned my life around. It's so much better, I'm so grateful, so happy! They told my family if I lived, I would be in vegetated state, same as before, but God has restored me. I had to learn to walk again, and talk again, and now I am just as normal as anyone! For everything, there is a reason.

Is there any group that could possibly pull off an entire concert at such a high level like that today with only a piano, bass and 4 voices? Cathedrals- truly one of a kind- this was the best lineup overall (though they had several good ones) and they were one of the top touring groups with only a piano and bass guitar when most other groups had long since gone to tracks. Hinsons did it through much of the 80s with a full band as well.

Thankful for this humble testimony of the one singing 'Somebody Touched Me. So thankful that we can reach out to Jesus when He is near, because He doesn't always strive with man. Answer the call when he knocks at the door. There have been many talented & even great gospel quartets, but the Cathedrals are no doubt, at least in the top three, if not the very best. They're certainly my favorite. I'm afraid there will never be another like them or even close to their immense talent. I do agree Danny F.is one of the best tenors ever; however, I do think John Starnes deserves honorable mention as he too had a phenomenal tenor voice & talent. It's just a shame he was associated with J.S. Ministries.

It is hard for me to understand how Starnes could come under Jimmy Swaggart's spell, especially after Swaggart was caught with hookers not once but twice. Then again, John is not the only one. Swaggart's church is full of people similarly hypnotized.
