Catholic church says Father Ogalo broke the Priestly canon of discipline

The catholic church has clarified that a Migori based priest who was suspended for rapping in church was relieved of his pastoral duties for breaking the canon of discipline while conducting mass.
According to Homa Bay diocese Bishop Philip Anyolo,though father Paul Ouma Ogalo's act may seem normal,the Canon law requires priests to refrain from unbecoming and foreign conduct that contravenes the doctrines of priesthood.

As an African American Catholic to hear about this priest's suspension is embarrassing. Here we have African American priests who rap!!!! Maybe not at Mass though i don't see that he rapped at Mass at all! Why are we African Catholics sometimes more European than Europe???? This priest was using one tool to bring people especially youth to God. The rapping is not foreign to the Kenyan Catholics but chanting in Latin before white images of Yeshua and His saints is somehow more acceptable? Black folks all around the world we have this problem of becoming self conscious of ourselves undr the gaze of white folks and white led institutions and it must end. The Cathoic church has deep and ancient roots in Africa-even the Latin Rite church of which I am a part and so is this priest. We must learn to be "fully Black and fully Catholic" as Servant of God Thea Bowman preached. I logve the words of Catholic president of Ghana Jerry Rawlings (RIP) "Christianise me you may but you will NEVER Europeanise me!" Our faith is not white even if the CURRENT leaders are largely white and it never will be, African and Asian and Latin Catholics make up most of the world's Catholics and are its most faithful. Why can we not praise God in all our cultural ways-even rapping? Its not for me personally but I would never stop that priest from spreading the gospel in whatever ways he can. And yes, rap is culturally African because it comes from African descended people and is based on African techniques and traditions even if it originated with Africa's stolen children in the America, we the African Americans. I pray the African church their wake up to a full sense of itself and the beauty of our cultures in our UNIVERSAL church.

How long was this suspension? am here waiting to see if he went back to the ministry, it was not like he killed someone or impregnated someone, he was rapping the gospel not even bad words, they could have sat down with him, send him for a retreat for 30days then let him continue with his ministry

Allow priests to preach as the spirit leads them. The truth is ingrained in the heart not outer things like clothing. He effectively conveyed the gospel in a language the youth connect with, let us open our minds to new ways of communication without diverting from the truth - which is the word of God

@@sthabisozibani We Catholics dont read the bible authorised by an English king, beloved sibling in Christ. We read the Bible as it was compiled in the 4th century by the original Catholic Orthodox church way before there were protestants who cut out the books they didn't like. The Gospel of John says nothing about how we dress or how we praise God and if it did it would have to be interpreted by the light of the Holy Ghost in the community of faith-the Church-according to these times and not the 1st century. Still I am interestd in your comment and wonder what example you might mean in that most beautiful of Gospels.

If this is coming from his grace then it's okay but if it's from an individual then I would say leave the annointed alone ....they are the private property of the Lord. The Lord called them by name and he remains their judge. Show me who amongst the disciples of Jesus was clean ? The best you can do for your priest is to pray for them in their weak points. They too are human ✝️✝️✝️✝️🙏
