Thank you for spreading our beautiful Catholic traditions! You pretty much described most of our family’s traditions. I’m Mexican so día de Reyes is a big deal for us.

Thank you for these great ideas :) My family is from Mexico and growing up we would put our shoes by the door the night before and the Wise Men would leave us a goody bag filled with peanuts, animal crackers, candy, and money. We also would cut the "rosca de reyes" with a baby inside or several depending on the size of the rosca (similar to the King's cake). Whoever gets the baby makes tamales and hosts a dinner for Candlemas (Feb 2). I have continued this tradition with my kids and they love it!

In German catholic school I was tought that the. C+M+B above the door stands for the latin blesssing "Christus mansionem benedicat" meaning "May Christ bless this house". Either way, I like both explanations.

Thanks Heather for some lovely ideas for Epiphany. I once was in Spain for Epiphany and we were in a outdoor restaurant and there was a procession with the three wise men throwing chocolate coins to the children and playing music! It was so much fun. X🎉

Thank you, you inspire me to be a better Catholic grand-mother. Here in Portugal we eat "bolo-rei" (king's day cake) on epiphany. It is a candied, colorful, crown shaped, leavened dough cake. And as I make a gingerbread house for Christmas time, on kings day our children come, break and eat of it; They take what they don't eat to their homes; they like this activity so much. God bless you. ❤

Here in Puerto Rico 3 Kings day is a Holiday and a big celebration. I am Catholic and we go to Mass. The wise men actually go and give out candy to the kids. Thanks for all of these great ideas. I didn't know there was a special blessing on that day. 🐪 Kids also cut grass the night before for the camels.👑 They wake up to some gifts too. 🎁

Epiphany or "Día de los reyes magos" is huge in México. We eat a cake similar to the one you showed us, Mrs. Johnson, we called it "rosca de reyes". The person who finds the baby Jesús figurine becames his godfather or godmother. The most magical thing of "Día de reyes" is that children get toys or presents from the Three Wise Men on january 5th night, who bring the gifts to keep honoring baby Jesús. It's a magical moment for both kids and adults.

My daughter was born on January 6, 1985. Even though she is grown, I still keep my tradition every year of giving her a birthday gift that has to do with the Epiphany. This is an almost 40-year tradition now, and she enjoys it. Happy new year to you and your family! ❤

En España los Reyes Magos son los que traen los regalos. El día 5 por la noche hay una gran cabalgata y luego comemos roscón de reyes. El día 6 por la mañana abrimos los regalos, vamos a Misa y tenemos una gran comida familiar.

The Epiphany cake is a French tradition, I did that all throughout my childhood! Except it's done with what we call a Kings' galette, it's puff pastry and the filling is almond meal, sugar, butter, sometimes eggs. It's absolutely delicious 😋

Here in Spain it is also a day of obligation and we go to mass as a family. It is also a tradition to buy or prepare a dessert called "Roscón de Reyes" and inside the Roscon is hidden a bean and a small figurine of the kings or some other character from the Nativity scene. If you find the bean you have to pay the Roscon next year. If you find the figurine you will get the cardboard crown that they give away with the Roscon. Look for a Roscón recipe is delicious. Roscón, is It is shaped like a ring and is made with thin dough alone or filled with cream, marzipan, angel hair or chocolate, which is decorated with a series of pieces of candied fruit. The day before the Epiphany the three wise men arrive and there is a great parade where they greet the children and the Kings' pages throw candy. That night the Three Wise Men, bring gifts to the children who have been good in memory of that first Christmas when they brought gifts to Jesús. In Spain they are the ones who bring gifts and not Santa Claus.

I just found your channel!!! I know the Holy Spirit led me to you! My son is a Lt Co in the US Navy. He and my daughter in law were just moved to VA. They have 2 children: Charlotte is 2 (end of this month) and Grant will be 1 in March! They actually live in Chesapeake, VA. By any chance, do you live near there??? They are joining a parish… Prince of Peace, I believe is the name of the parish. My son is a Knight. My daughter in law, Kaylan, converted to Catholicism. She was also a Lt Co in the Navy & was just officially discharged and will be a stay at home Mom. She’s desperately trying to meet other Catholic Moms in the area. I just bought and overnighted all the Epiphany things you showed. I loved them! I so am praying you live nearby!

Every year on the epiphany I watch a documentary called The Star of Bethlehem which goes through the starry night sky that the wise men would have seen. If you haven't seen it, it's amazing! A little nerdy for small kids but older kids will understand.❤

Hi Heather! I am a Catholic mum of 2 littles (3 and 1) and would like to live liturgical seasons and holidays more intentionally. I am divided between 3 books that I think could help: 1) The Catholic Home: Celebrations and Traditions for Holidays, Feast Days, and Every Day by Meredith Gould; 2) The Catholic All Year Compendium: Liturgical Living for Real Life by Kendra Tierney; and 3) Living the Seasons: Simple Ways to Celebrate the Beauty of Your Faith throughout the Year by Erica Tighe Campbell. Do you have any thoughts on these books or think another one would guide me better? Thanks in advance for your reply and the wonderful content you share, it's very inspiring:)

When I was little, my family did the cake thing. I wanted to win so badly and be queen for the day that I looked over the corner to see where my parents put the baby Jesus doll in the cake. I didn’t get a good look, but I saw that the put the doll somewhere in the outer corners. I was convinced when they took cut the cake that it was in the smallest piece. So, I insisted that I wanted the smallest corner piece, even though they were going to offer me the biggest corner one. The doll wasn’t in there. My dad instead got the biggest piece and the doll was in there. The funny thing is, my parents were probably trying to give me the piece so I could be queen for the day, but I messed everything up.😅
