6 - What's in a Name? Anonymous Texts from the Early Church | Way of the Fathers with Mike Aquilina

The work of the early Church was largely done by Christians whose names we’ll never know. In fact, many of the most important documents from the first and second centuries have unknown or uncertain authorship. In this episode we examine some of those fascinating documents - the Didache, the Letter of Barnabas, and Second Clement - and we pay homage to our great (though nameless) ancestors in the faith.

The eucharist is called "the sacrifice." Not "the token" or "the symbol." Powerful.

The intro itself is beautiful. I love the little intro to each video as well. "I am going the way of the Fathers, For I see myself being summoned by the Lord" It makes me want to drop everything and discern a vocation to the priesthood or Monastic life; even perhaps like the Desert Fathers.

I found a book in a thrift store called “The Lost Books of the Bible”. I laughed as I picked it up expecting a bunch of Gnostic works. 95% was just the writings of the early church. 😊 Probably my favorite thrift store find ever. I have yet to read the Epistle of Barnabas though! I know what I am going to be reading tonight!
