My personal philosophy in that regard is: pray for practicing Catholics to teach our children, pray for our priests and school administrators to be able to balance the pastoral and doctrinal aspect, and finally, pray for the parents to be the first educators of Catholic teaching. Advance happy Catholic school week!

Our schools and parishes really *need* better instruction. Do they honestly expect every layperson to be an auto-didact?

Always insightful in your biblical interpretations.Looking at the words and versus and unpacking them.That is why,the gospel & church tradition are important to understand the scripture.And the knowledge and the wisdom you've gained from the early church writings ad the gospel have come from a thirst for biblical truth,and this thirst can only be instituted by god and our lord,jesus christ.I was a catholic with little understanding of church tradition,and tossed about with protestant accusation of the catholic doctrine.After listening to you,steve ray and Dr scott haln,i have no fear anymore of being a catholic.Now iam thinking of becoming a catholic apologetic in Papua New Guinea.But how do i go about becoming one? Thanks again,Dr Brant Pitre.God bless you and your family.

Did anyone else catch that at 3:24 Dr. Pitre says of Jesus that "even though he's not a Jewish priest, he's not a Levite, he's not a member of the tribe of aaron..." but at 10:50 he also states "you will discover that at the expression 'holy one' when it's with a definite article like 'the holy one' is a title for the high priest"

Maybe Mark’s use of ‘immediately’ suggests that it was a favourite word of Peter?
@paulmiller34693 жыл бұрын
I had the same question. I suppose it comes down to the degree that Mark added his own emphasis on Peter's homilies (assuming you agree with those Church fathers who explained the origin of this particular Gospel that way).
@juancarlosaliba48663 жыл бұрын
Mark here is basing it on Peter's eyewitness testimony so yes, it is possible that he emphasized the word immediately.

Peter to mark: immediately write this down 🤣😂

Reading the comments to my post, I feel that I may have been right. I can imagine Peter getting exciting and using a favourite phrase - and Mark scribbling it down!

Thank you so much for this fascinating teaching. I heard a video by Israeli Christians on One for Israel which claimed the ancient Jews would recognize the Messiah by 4 miracles: curing of a leper, healing a mute spirit (the Jewish priests couldnt cast out a demon without knowing its name), healing a man born blind, and raising someone who has been dead 4 days. This was according to I believe the Talmud. Do you know anything about it?

IMMEDIATELY -- In John, when the Apostles are on the rough sea, they see Jesus walking on the water and are terrified. When Christ enters their boat, they arive to their destination IMMEDIATELY. I wonder if the way this word is used here and in the Gospel of Mark has any relationship to the word SUDDENLY used in Plato's Parmenides, and Augustine's writing

Wonderful enthusiasm for interpretation. You're advertising this as a catholic production but quoting Hebrew Psalm order. The Aaron quote is Psalm 105 in catholic liturgy. LXX? Nothing what so ever to do with content, content and interpretation is truly involved. Ta May Christ have mercy upon us all for what we had done

In my Catholic Bible Dr. Pitre is correct, Ps. 106:16.
@L.M17923 жыл бұрын
@@edkaminski4115 King James Bible shows 106, as do Hebrew Bibles. Catholic Bibles show 105. Perhaps I have the wrong Bible. It is Catholic Truth Society, Publishers to the Holy See. It is reproduced copyright material.... Psalms 1966 Darton, Longman & Todd Ltd. The texts of the Grail Psalms are also included.... 1963 HarperCollins. * * * At least the meaning is the same.
